One of those moving parts is blueprints, and there are a ton of them to keep track of. Crafting Heat Capacitors requires having the blueprint to do so, but it isn’t immediately obvious how to grab the blueprint for it. We’ll cover how to grab the blueprint for Heat Capacitors, how to get the materials necessary once you have the blueprint, and what Heat Capacitors are used for.

Where To Get The Heat Capacitor Blueprint

The room in the Anomaly containing all of the blueprint vendors in No Man's Sky.

To get the Heat Capacitor blueprint, you’re going to need to head to the Anomaly.

Once in the Anomaly, head to the room all the way in the back, on the second floor. This room contains multiple vendors, all offering blueprints for different facets of the game.

Synthesis Laboratory

The vendor we’re going to need is called the Synthesis Laboratory, and it’s located on the right side of the room, in-between the Exocraft Research and Multi-Tool Research vendors. You’ll need to toggle to the Valuable Products tab of Product Recipes in the Synthesis Laboratory, and on the left side of the third row, you’ll find the Heat Capacitor available for 250 Nanite Clusters.

How To Get Nanite Clusters

There are a plethora of ways to obtain Nanite Clusters. Some of the easiest ways to obtain them include:

  • Uploading Discoveries like Plants, Animals, Minerals, Planets, and Systems.
  • Mission rewards.
  • Uncovering Buried Technology.

How To Craft A Heat Capacitor

The Heat Capacitor recipe highlighted in the inventory of No Man's Sky.

Once you’ve got the blueprint for a Heat Capacitor, you can craft one in your inventory with Solanium and Frost Crystals.

How To Find Solanium

Solanium is only present on planets that have a very hot climate. A hot climate doesn’t guarantee the presence of Solanium (or Solar Vines, which are what Solanium are harvested from), but you won’t find Solanium without it.

You can see whether a planet has Solanium present on it from space by scanning it. This is going to show the primary resources available on it, and will help expedite your search.

In order to harvest Solanium from Solar Vines, you’ll need a Haz-Mat Gauntlet installed in your Exo-Suit.

The Haz-Mat Gauntlet blueprint can be purchased in the Anomaly from the Exosuit Research vendor, and requires 50 Chromatic Metal and 20 Sodium Nitrate to craft.

How To Find Frost Crystals

Frost Crystals require finding a Frostwort plant, and it thrives in the opposite situation of Solanium: cold climates. Like Solanium, harvesting Frost Crystals is going to require a Haz-Mat Gauntlet installed in your Exosuit.

Both Solanium and Frost Crystals can be grown and harvested in your base, as well.

If you’ve done much exploring, it’s likely you’ve already found planets that contain both Solanium and Frost Crystals. Navigate to your Discoveries tab, and inspect all the planets you’ve previously visited/scanned.

Once you find a planet that has what you need, select ‘Set Waypoint’ when hovering over the system, and travel to that system from your Galactic Map.

What Are Heat Capacitors Used For?

Heat Capacitors are used in Planetary Settlement jobs, and they’re also used in the crafting recipe for Circuit Boards, alongside Poly Fiber.

Circuit Board

Heat Capacitor + Poly Fiber

Aside from creating Circuit Boards and when used in Planetary Settlements, there isn’t going to be much specific need for Heat Capacitors.

But, Heat Capacitors do you a default value of 180,000 Units. They are particularly easy to make once you’re farming and cultivating them at your base regularly, making them an easy way to build up some passive income.

If combined with creating Poly Fiber, you can easily create a supply of Circuit Boards to sell, which are valued at 916,250 Units each.
