Truth be told, I didn’t use my Steam Deck much once I got it; it was a fun novelty, and I wanted to get into PC gaming eventually, but I wasn’t in any rush. Then tragedy struck, my desktop PC’s hard drive died. I figured I’d try using the Steam Deck for a bit until I got a replacement hard drive; I knew that the Steam Deck had a desktop mode that looked like a normal PC, so why not see what it could do. Turns out that the Steam Deck actually out-performs my old desktop by a LOT (I was running an old Dell mini from back when Windows 8 had first come out). I never did get that hard drive replaced. The Steam Deck is now my main computer, its future iterations will be my upgrade path, and I couldn’t be happier. π
