Summary
- Sony officially announces Days Gone Remastered for PS5 with new game modes and enhancements.
- The game features Horde Assault and Permadeath modes.
- It costs $9.99 for those that already own the PS4 version of the game.
Days Gone Remastered first leaked months ago, but now it’s official. The original Days Gone, developed by Bend Studio, launched in 2019 to surprisingly mixed reviews for a first-party PlayStation release. The open world zombie game certainly had its detractors, but it has since developed a dedicated fanbase that are holding out hope that a sequel may one day materialize.
Unfortunately, Sony has reportedly already rejected a Days Gone sequel pitch. Bend Studio, meanwhile, was said to be working on an original IP live-service game that has ultimately been canceled. Time will tell what’s next for the studio, but in the meantime, fans can look forward to playing a spruced-up version of Days Gone on PS5 in the very near future.

Instead of simply upgrading the visuals, Days Gone Remastered is bringing new game modes to the table. Horde Assault is an arcade mode where players try to achieve a high score by fighting massive hordes of zombies, with even greater hordes than those encountered in Days Gone‘s story mode. The mode will include new playable characters, cosmetics, and more. Fans can also look forward to a Permadeath mode that will record players with a special graphic with their stats and trophy upon completion. There will also be a Speedrun mode and an upgraded Photo Mode for fans to enjoy.
Those interested in checking out Days Gone Remastered‘s new features should note that the remaster won’t be free. Those that already own Days Gone on PS4 can upgrade to the remaster for $9.99, which is in line with other PS4 to PS5 upgrades. Standalone, the remaster will be available for $49.99. Those that pre-order the game will receive eight PSN avatars based on Days Gone characters and early in-game unlocks. Days Gone‘s PC version will be getting the new content as well, though it will be added to the game as part of the $10 Broken Road DLC, and not as a free update.
