Best Early Game Fighter Weapons In Avowed

Best Early Game Fighter Weapons In Avowed
Views: 0

There is no specific Fighter class in Avowed. Instead, you gradually build up your character by pulling in skills from the Fighter, Ranger, and Wizard tree to construct the perfect Envoy. However, in order to wield the heaviest, two handed weapons, you will need some Fighter points.

If you’re using a two-handed melee weapon as your primary attack, that basically makes you a Fighter. And, therefore, you’ll need some good weapons. These are the best two-handed weapons you’ll find across the first two regions, Dawnshore and Emerald Stair, to destroy your enemies. Be sure to check out our list of Ranger weapons (one handed and ranged weapons) and Wizard weapons (wands and grimoires) to keep your secondary loadout kitted out too.

Nice and easy one here. You’ll probably find these several times across your adventures in Dawnshore, but at just 150gp, it’s cheap to grab from Gweneth. While definitely a starter weapon, it will do a job in the first five to ten hours of the game whille you work your way up to better weapons, and allows you to start utilising those Fighter skills from the start.

It’s a similar story to the Common Great Sword here, at the same price of 150gp. It’s not a weapon for the long haul, and you might wish to swap out the hammer’s slow speed for a slightly faster weapon later on, especially as the Fighter skills encourage you to do so. But for the start of the game, few weapons can match its power.

The Fine Great Sword is a considerable step up in cost from the Common standard, at 3,600gp. For a lot of people, that’s not worth it – you can find weapons that are as good or better out in the world. However, with many Fighter skills aiding great swords specifically, if you really want a massive sword, this is an easy way to pick one up with a little bit of saving and selling. Gold is increasingly easy to come by in the mid to late stages of the game, so this price looks better and better with time.

Much like the Fine Great Sword, the Fine Great Hammer is not cheap at 3,600. You could even make a case that it’s not worth it, as the best Fighter builds favour axes and swords, which are far more common. But if you have the money and want to spend your way to attack power, that 111 damage is too high to overlook. If you get this early, the enemies won’t know what hit them (it’s a mighty fine, great big hammer).

A fitting reward for collecting a bounty against one of the biggest early-game enemies, Seven Strivings is a bone axe that can do huge damage in battle. Though not as powerful as the fine weapons, it’s a free weapon you can find in the world after taking out just one foe (and their underlings), making it a massive game-changer in early skirmishes more built for Common weapons. With the addition of speed into the mix, plus the aesthetic appeal, Seven Strivings is one of the best weapons you can find.

But, not the best. The Philospher’s Riddle comes not only with excellent damage output, but its additional abilities make it an extremely useful weapon for eroding health and navigating the battlefield at speed. You’ll have to fight off some pirates to climb the ower at Castol’s Folly, but once that quest is over, the area is unmanned, making swooping in for this brilliant weapon that will hold you over well past ‘early game’ a doddle.

In Emerald Stair, you’ll see a group of spectres and skeletons guarding a coffin out in the overworld – it’s at the Shrine to Skaen in the Delemgan Glade. They put up a tough fight, but inside is an Exceptional Greatsword. It’s a great (some would say ‘exceptional’) chance to get an expensive, powerful weapon before you’re really scaled for it, meaning you should make a beeline for the area as soon as you can – just make sure you bring enough health potions to stay alive.
