Unlocking every intrinsic upgrade for Destiny 2’s
Barrow-Dyad Exotic requires you to acquire Taken Osseous Fragments aboard the Dreadnaught, a type of collectible that’s fairly similar to the first game’s Calcified Fragments. There are 18 to find in total. You only need to find six to unlock the first intrinsic upgrade, but if you want to fully upgrade Barrow-Dyad later in the season, it’s best to grab all the fragments now.

Fortunately, most of these fragments are fairly easy to obtain and can be done solo. This guide covers all 18 Taken Osseous Fragments currently available in The Nether activity, showcasing all six fragments per zone.
As of writing, only Barrow-Dyad’s first intrinsic upgrade is available upon collecting six fragments. The remaining intrinsics will unlock in later Acts.
For now, you only need to collect six fragments to upgrade the weapon. But if you want to bypass this grind in later Acts, feel free to grab all 18 fragments now.
Hall Of Souls Taken Osseous Fragment Locations
Hall Of Souls Fragment #1
Right after you spawn in, turn 45 degrees to your right and run towards the corner. The fragment is resting atop a short pillar.
Hall Of Souls Fragment #2
From the left of the Court of Oryx platform, head north into the nearby weapon systems room. Once inside, hug the right wall until you’re under a platform. The fragment is next to the wall parallel to you.
Hall Of Souls Fragment #3
From the same location as fragment #2, travel south into the hallway that leads into the Tormentor room—the same room where
King’s Fall
begins. Halfway down the blue-lit hall, look to the wall on your right. You should see a small gap. Walk inside to find the fragment.
Hall Of Souls Fragment #4
On the eastern half of the Hall of Souls (right of the Court of Oryx platform), look towards the corner of the Dreadnaught hull. You should see the fragment shimmering in the dark. Jump across the gap to grab it.
Hall Of Souls Fragment #5
This fragment is in the eastern corner of the Hall of Souls, located to the right of the Court of Oryx platform. Look under the northern platform that leads to the Tormentor room to find the fragment resting atop a rectangular pillar. Jump across to grab it.
Hall Of Souls Fragment #6
On the eastern edge of the Hall of Souls (right of the Court of Oryx platform), look for a fragment resting on a broken support structure that’s barely jutting out of the chasm below. It’s right under the north platform that leads to the Tormentor room.
The Mausoleum Taken Osseous Fragment Locations
Mausoleum Fragment #1
Right after you spawn into the Mausoleum, turn around and jump down onto the platform below. Turn to your right, and you should see the fragment on the lip of the platform you landed on.
Mausoleum Fragment #2
Make your way to the dormant portal near the middle of the Mausoleum patrol space. From the portal, turn around and drop down to the lower floor. Walk forward a few steps and then turn to your right. You’ll find the fragment hiding in the corner.
Mausoleum Fragment #3
Starting from the same dormant portal as before, turn 90 degrees to your left and run towards the tentacle on the platform. Slide under the tentacle to find the fragment.
Mausoleum Fragment #4
This fragment is in the center of the Mausoleum, resting atop a pile of broken pillars that overlook the zone.
Mausoleum Fragment #5
You’ll find this fragment on the path to the Mausoleum boss that’s near the Dreadnaught floor bed. When the path towards the boss begins to curve, jump up the rocks on your right to reach it. You can also jump across the gap from the tentacle resting near fragment #3 (shown above).
Mausoleum Fragment #6
Make your way to the boss arena on the floor of the Mausoleum. Once there, wrap around the rocks on your right to find the fragment.

You’ll find this fragment next to the Taken Witch encounter. Run up to the exit that’s blocked by Taken energy. The fragment will be in a small pile of Hive debris to the right of the exit.
