A new race is mentioned in One Piece. This race is yet to be seen.
While his role as Roger’s left hand already defines him as a major character here, he could have even more Importance attached to him if he turns out to be Firescar, also known as the Man with the Burn Scar. Elbaf could potentially solve the mystery of Firescar once and for all, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see what happens next in the story.
The Introduction Of Firescar (The Man Marked By Flames)
- The Worst Generation Introduced Firescar In The Story
- Some Believe Firescar Works For The Government
The first mention of Firescar came in the story once the last Road Poneglyph came into the picture. The Wano Country arc was a big step for the Straw Hat Pirates in many ways. At this point, Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates had already attained 2 Road Poneglyphs. The first one was gained at Zou, where, inside the Whale Forest, they were introduced to their very first Road Poneglyph, as well as the concept of it, to begin with. Then, it was made clear that Kaido and Big Mom each held one Road Poneglyph. As half of the Straw Hats went to Whole Cake Island, they managed to steal Big Mom’s Poneglyph. Upon return, the crew fought Kaido in Wano and following his defeat, claimed his Road Poneglyph as well.

Having acquired three out of the four Road Poneglyphs, it is no surprise to know that the Straw Hat Pirates are extremely close to getting to the One Piece itself. Luffy just needs one more Road Poneglyph to become the Pirate King. However, that task isn’t necessarily going to be easy. In fact, getting the last Road Poneglyph is the hardest job because nobody in the whole world has been able to get it after the death of the Pirate King. It is said that this Poneglyph is in possession of Firescar, who is also known as the Man with the Burn Scar. His whereabouts remain unknown, and so does his identity. Fans know very little about him.
Just when the Straw Hat Pirates were about to leave Wano, it was revealed in the story that Firescar is going to be the next target, and this makes the story that much more exciting. Firescar was brought up once again in the story when Blackbeard and Kuzan were seen talking. According to the Blackbeard Pirates, Firescar travels in an all-black ship and sinks whoever comes close. The ship is often surrounded by massive vortexes, which means those who dare to come near find themselves at the bottom of the ocean immediately. Some, like Shiryu, even speculate that Firescar works for the Government because for them to keep the last Road Poneglyph would essentially ensure that nobody would be able to get to the treasure of the One Piece. The full truth of the matter isn’t known just yet.
Why Scopper Gaban Could Be Firescar
Scopper Gaban Has A Very Special Scar
There are many ideas out there surrounding the true identity of Firescar, but so far, nothing is known. The only big clues fans have are that this person is somehow carrying a flame scar and that he travels in a black ship. At least one of these criteria is met by Scopper Gaban, the left-hand man of the Pirate King. Gaban made his proper debut in the story in One Piece chapter 1139, where Oda revealed him to be very special, both in terms of power and popularity. Fans found out many tales about Gaban.
For instance, it was revealed in the story that Scopper Gaban married Ripley and that they had a child together. Gaban has been living on Elbaf since the death of the Pirate King, if not longer. Gaban has been to Laugh Tale and has seen all the Road Poneglyphs. He knows everything one could want to know about the One Piece itself, and as such, for Gaban to be the Firescar certainly does seem plausible.

Most importantly, however, the criteria that he needs to check is having a scar from fire. Interestingly enough, upon Gaban’s debut in One Piece 1139, it was immediately made clear to the fans that Gaban had a Firescar on his forehead. This scar wasn’t abundantly clear to the readers at first, but in the final panel of the chapter, one can clearly see that Scopper Gaban has a flame-like scar on his forehead.
Given that Gaban checks two of the three boxes for Firescar, it is highly likely that it is truly him. But, nothing can be said for sure just yet. Fans need to keep in mind that Oda can easily do a red herring here and make it seem like Gaban is the man marked by the flames, but then have it be someone else.

One Piece: Oda Has Introduced Another Power That Rivals Haki
A new power is revealed in One Piece. This power could rival haki.
The biggest issue with the idea of Gaban being the Man with the Burn Scar is that Gaban doesn’t seem to have a black ship at all. He’s been living in Elbaf for over 20 years, so he wouldn’t need to be out at sea primarily. Another issue that arises is the fact that Firescar is said to be able to create vortexes and sink any ship that dares approach him. Gaban doesn’t seem to have any Devil Fruit ability, so it definitely lowers the chances of him being Firescar. That said, perhaps this is something special that Gaban can do with his Haki alone. It is also known that Gaban travels sometimes. In the cover story on chapter 631, Gaban was at Twin Cape somehow and made it back to Elbaf before Luffy. Could he have been traveling in the black ship all along? It is entirely possible.
Could Scopper Gaban Make Luffy The Pirate King?
Gaban Could Have An Idea About The Last Road Poneglyph
If Scopper Gaban turns out to be Firescar, then it can be said that following the Elbaf arc, Luffy will essentially go on to claim the One Piece, meaning the story would then likely wrap up in about 2-3 years at most. But, for the last Road Poneglyph to find its way into Luffy’s hands so easily would definitely be odd, which is why doubts still remain as to who Firescar truly is. At the moment, it’s safe to assume that Gaban and Firescar are two different people.
