Since a lot of the best weapons in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are very expensive or hard to find, you’ll want to craft some at a Smithy from time to time. For many of them, you’ll need to get deer skin to craft them. Unlike herbs and flowers, you can’t just pick deer skin off the ground.

Our interactive map for the Trosky region in KCD2. All the locations, quests, NPCs, and chests in the game.
To get the deer skin you need, you’ll need to find it another way or buy it from the right people. However, only certain merchants sell deer skin, and some you’d expect to stock it don’t. You’ll need to head to the right locations to get it.
Where To Buy Deer Skin
Generally, you’ll be able to buy deer skin from saddlers and cobblers, since they use it to make the items they sell. However, not all of them do and you need to speak to the right people.
You can buy deer skin for about 14 Groschen from Saddler Matthew in Trosky Castle or the Cobbler in Kuttenberg City. If you haggle on the price, you should be able to bet them for around 10 Groschen each.
Saddler Matthew is shown as a Cobbler on the main map, but he’s a Saddler once you approach him at his shop.
Where To Find Deer Skin
Alternatively, you can go straight to the source and get deer skin from the deer themselves. You’ll find deer in most forest areas, and they’ll be indicated by a deer icon on the world map.
You can find a deer hunting spot in the woods between Zhelejov and Troskowitz in the Trosky region, and west of Devil’s Den in the Kuttenberg region. To get deer skin, you need to follow these steps:
- Head to the deer location and find them roaming around.
- Shoot the deer with a bow or crossbow.
- Use your knife to loot the deer’s carcass and take the deer skin.
Since hunting animals is considered to be a crime in the world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, make sure no one sees you killing the deer and taking their skin.
You can then use the deer skin you have for any of the crafting recipes you need it for.
