What a couple of weeks it’s been for Warhorse Studios, eh? After swatting away some last minute (and totally ridiculous) grumbles from the anti-woke crowd, it’s now reveling in over a million copies sold for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 already and seeing colossal daily player counts on Steam. Despite it being a deep, massive, content-rich RPG, the inevitable calls for mods are already ringing loud, and Warhorse has now confirmed that official Steam Workshop mod support is on the horizon for KCD2.

Of course, using third-party platforms and alternative methods, there are already scores of brilliant Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 mods out there. The most popular ones are those that change some of the medieval game’s most challenging or limiting mechanics to give players a more streamlined and less stressful experience. There’s a good reason why an unlimited saving mod is currently at the top of the trending charts on Nexus Mods.

However, Warhorse has just announced that official mod support on Steam Workshop will be arriving in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 in the future. “Bohemia is about to get even more exciting. Official modding support is coming to KCD2 on Steamworks – stay tuned,” the studio’s short but sweet X post reads. It also shows Henry wielding a fish as a weapon, atop a mount that’s sporting a fetching, pink and blue zebra pattern – just to give you a flavor of the lunacy mod support will bring.

While there’s not a time frame (not even an encouraging ‘soon’) just yet, the fact Warhorse is posting about this so early is definitely a positive sign that official mod support will arrive earlier than it did in the first game. The developer said at the time that it was “the last thing we want to release for Kingdom Come Deliverance,” and it eventually arrived more than a year and a half after the game’s launch.

While Warhorse has already revealed a stacked 2025 roadmap filled with three DLC expansions, I’m very hopeful that official mod support will arrive at some point this year too, given how early Warhorse has announced its intentions to bring it to Steam. Once we get an official date or window, we’ll of course let you know.
