Titus Welliver’s New Deal At Amazon Looks Like A Blatant Way To Silence Him Over Bosch: Legacy’s Cancelation
Titus Welliver has struck up a new deal at Amazon MGM Studios, after over a decade working with them on Bosch and Bosch: Legacy. This first-look deal was struck despite Amazon misleading Titus Welliver about his future playing the titular ex LAPD detective in Bosch: Legacy. After the news broke, Vernon Sanders, head of television, Amazon MGM Studios, released a statement: (Source: Deadline)
As one iconic chapter closes with Bosch: Legacy, we’re incredibly excited to begin a new journey with Titus Welliver. His portrayal of Harry Bosch has defined a generation of crime drama, bringing unparalleled depth and authenticity to the role. We’re thrilled to continue our creative collaboration and can’t wait to see what comes next.
It looks like Amazon drove the money truck up to Titus Welliver’s door in an attempt to pacify him over the nature of Bosch: Legacy‘s cancelation. It also feels like Amazon are using Welliver’s prestigious new deal as leverage to prevent him from speaking out about the behind-the-scenes drama that led fans to launch a petition to Save Bosch: Legacy. Amazon MGM head honcho, Vernon Sanders has insisted Bosch: Legacy wasn’t canceled, and was part of the plan to make way for the upcoming Ballard spin-off. However, Titus Welliver’s pre-cancelation comments caught Amazon in a lie over this, but money talks in Hollywood, and Amazon have ensured the Harry Bosch actor will be keeping his mouth firmly shut moving forward.

Titus Welliver Has Either Sold His Soul To Amazon Or He’s Keeping Them On-Side For Potential Future Harry Bosch Projects
Titus Welliver hasn’t spoken out to Save Bosch: Legacy, so the only way to uncover the real truth has been to analyze what he said prior to the cancelation. Welliver appeared on Katie Sackhoff’s YouTube channel, and stated that he expected to begin shooting a fourth season of Bosch: Legacy in January 2025. This appearance was recorded right before he was set to shoot his scenes for the Ballard spin-off. Welliver and Amazon clearly weren’t on the same page about the future of Harry Bosch, as he presumably signed the Ballard contract fully expecting to carry on his work on Bosch: Legacy. Some fans might take the stance that Welliver has sold his soul to Amazon. However, in Welliver’s defense, he needed to sign this new contract to protect against Amazon doing the dirty on him again. Of course, Welliver could have taken a stance and refused to work with Amazon ever again, but what would that do to protect Harry Bosch’s legacy? After all, legacy matters, right? After signing the deal, Titus Welliver said:
I have enjoyed a wonderful and rewarding working relationship with Amazon for more than a decade. I am grateful and excited to continue our collaboration to develop interesting and meaningful stories.
