Almost exactly a year after the first one was announced, World of Warcraft has officially revealed a second short story anthology for The War Within. World of Warcraft: Crossroads is a new collection of six short stories that “provide deeper insight into the powers at play and the battles still to fight following The War Within.” Thrall, Faerin Lothar, and Alleria Windrunner – who received stories in The Voices Within – each get a second tale, and are joined by Jaina Proudmoore, Renzik “The Shiv,” and the Ethereal Locus-Walker in a series of WoW stories that will remind readers “that Azeroth’s fate is shaped by the sacrifices and struggles of all, and that even small, quiet actions can echo large throughout history.”
World of Warcraft: Crossroads Short Story Collection
-
A new short story anthology written by Adam Christopher and Andrew Robinson featuring:
- Thrall
- Jaina Proudmoore
- Renzik “The Shiv”
- Faerin Lothar
- Alleria Windrunner
- Locus-Walker
Award-winning authors Adam Christopher and Andrew Robinson are the writers responsible for bringing these stories to life. Christopher has an abundance of novels under his belt, including Star Wars: Shadow of the Sith, Stranger Things: Darkness on the Edge of Town, and the official tie-in novel for Dishonored, and was a contributing author to the Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View short story anthology. Robinson, on the other hand, is a prolific animation writer who has worked on IPs like Transformers, Marvel, and Young Justice, and has written songs, lore, comics, short stories, and animated shorts for Blizzard since 2014, including some of the most popular Overwatch cinematics.
Though World of Warcraft: Crossroads doesn’t come out until November 11, fans can listen to one of these tales right now for free. “The Tipping Point,” the short story detailing the history of Renzik “the Shiv” – a Goblin SI:7 agent who plays a major role in the story of World of Warcraft: The War Within Patch 11.1 – is available via audio narration by John Behlmann, the voice actor for SI:7 spymaster Matthias Shaw. If Crossroads follows in the footsteps of The Voices Within, players can expect four more of these short stories to be released in similar formats, with one likely being held as exclusive to print.
“These tales serve as a reminder that Azeroth’s fate is shaped by the sacrifices and struggles of all, and that even small, quiet actions can echo large throughout history.”
World of Warcraft: Crossroads is available for pre-order on Amazon for $30. The 256-page anthology is expected to be released November 11, though the date could be subject to change before then.
