Pokemon Fan Shares Neat Idea for Valentine’s Day Convergent Luvdisc

A Pokemon fan has shared their concept for a convergent form for Luvdisc that would be perfect for Valentine’s Day. Considering that Luvdisc hasn’t received much love from the Pokemon franchise since its introduction in Gen 3, it might make a good choice for getting a convergent Pokemon spin-off.

Luvdisc first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire, and has since appeared in almost all main series entries, with the exception of the Pokemon Let’s Go games, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. In that time, Luvdisc hasn’t really changed, having no regional or convergent forms, or even a standard evolution. While some like the Pokemon for its design, it also doesn’t excel in terms of its battle stats. This Pokemon fan’s idea might work for giving it a convergent form, if nothing else.

Pokemon fans take to social media to share their thoughts about how the Nintendo Switch 2 may be the best chance for a spin-off’s return.

Pokemon fan Forevermore122 shared their concept for how a Valentine’s Day-themed Luvdisc convergent form could work. The Pokemon fan suggested that the convergent form would be Fairy-type instead of Water-type, to better fit the theme. Building upon Luvdisc’s inherent shape, they showed an image of a heart-shaped box of Valentine’s Day chocolates as the result of the transformation. In the comments, they shared further detail, imagining the “box” of the Pokemon being its shell, which would actually hide numerous smaller Luvdisc that make up living “chocolates.”

Pokemon Fans Built Upon Convergent Luvdisc Concept

Fellow Pokemon enthusiasts have shared additional ideas, building upon what Forevermore122 had presented. One fan suggested that rather than a convergent form, it would make a good fusion between Slurpuff and Luvdisc, while another said that it would work well as an evolution, giving Luvdisc something it’s been sorely lacking. While the likelihood of Luvdisc getting an actual convergent form based on the holiday is unlikely, Luvdisc has been the focus of Valentine’s Day events in the past.

With Pokemon Legends: Z-A still largely a mystery at this time, players have to wait and see if any long-neglected Pokemon like Luvdisc get the attention that they deserve. While it’s understandable for the franchise to put a lot of focus on iconic favorites, with so many Pokemon now in the series, there are a considerable number that fans feel need more attention. With The Pokemon Company’s COO hoping that Pokemon will last for hundreds of years, though, it may just be a matter of time before older Pokemon get revisited. Hopefully, fans don’t have to wait until they’re elderly to see their overlooked childhood favorites get updated.
