Summary
- Death Stranding 2 will feature at SXSW 2025 in a panel by Hideo Kojima.
- Fans are worried that it may not feature in today’s State of Play.
- Hopefully, we get both!
While we did receive a trailer featuring robot samurais and what looks like a guitar gun, information on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach has been pretty scanty since then. Fans are hoping to get more information about the game during today’s PlayStation State of Play, it seems Kojima Productions has already booked a big reveal at another showcase.

The studio has announced that Hideo Kojima himself will be hosting a special panel at SXSW, held in Austin, Texas on March 9. As you can expect, the subject matter will be Death Stranding 2. This has put doubts in the minds of fans about if the game will feature at the State of Play later today.
Death Stranding 2 Panel Confirmed For SXSW 2025
“Kojima Productions, in collaboration with PlayStation, will host the Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Special Panel at the SXSW 2025 festival in Austin, Texas on March 9th,” says the announcement on the studio’s website. “At the Special Panel, Hideo Kojima will discuss and share new details about Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the upcoming sequel to the critically acclaimed Death Stranding video game, arriving exclusively on PlayStation 5 later this year.”
While fans were expecting to get more information about the upcoming game at today’s PlayStation State of Play, their hopes might just be dented. However, while Kojima Productions has announced that it will feature at SXSW 2025, it doesn’t mean that it has ruled out an appearance during the State of Play. For all we know, we might still see another trailer for the game later today.
Last week, we learnt that Death Stranding 2 has already received an age rating in Korea. The age rating was completed on February 6, mentioning themes of excessive violence, swearing, smoking and drinking, among others. While none of these themes come as a surprise, based on the first game, it does lead us to believe that Death Stranding 2 may launch earlier than we expected.
The most likely scenario is that we’ll get a trailer and release date at the State of Play today, with a more in-depth, technical look at Death Stranding 2 at SXSW 2025 in March.
