MKOI vs BDS – LEC Winter Playoffs Preview
The match between MKOI and BDS should be the highlights of round 1 of LEC winter playoffs given the matchups and how the two teams have performed in the regular split.
On one hand, you have KOI who has shown great potential but also moments of inconsistency, proving that the squad still needs to find its groove. The bot lane of Alvaro and Supa can be powerful but also flippy on the day.
The last week for KOI was rough as they lost to both G2 and TH. Their early game is solid as usual but the team crumbles later in the game when teamfights get messy. It was quite clear in the series against TH, and G2 outclassed MKOI early on.
BDS, instead, looks quite the opposite. Their early game continues to be sub-par but they excel playing from behind. The game against GX is a great example of how they are able to keep the game alive despite the initial deficit.
Series Breakdown
Going into the series, the main difference maker might actually be the Fearless Draft. BDS is known for playing a more standard playstyle with traditional carries while MKOI has Myrwn who’s willing to pull out niche picks that can work if the situation calls.
Based on recent performances, I think it will be a close series between these two teams. If BDS somehow manages to resist MKOI’s early aggression, they should be in a great position to take the series.
In a Bo3, this can definitely happen. Nuc and Ice have the experience to handle it, but I think KOI is still slightly favored to take the win. A 2-1 score for either side, however, wouldn’t be much of a surprise.
