Kyoto Animation is already working on several projects, one of which is called City the Animation. It is set to be released in July 2025. City the Animation is based on the work of Nichijou creator, Keiichi Arawi. Nichijo is widely believed to be one of the most entertaining and humorous anime series of all time, so if City’s anime adaptation is anything like that, Kyoto Animation will have another successful title in its hands.

Keiichi Arawi’s City Is A Surreal Comedy
City Is Written By Nichijou Creator
The manga is called City, and it began serializing in Kodansha’s Morning magazine in September 2016. The manga combines surreal and slice-of-life, making it a fun read.
This project will be the first major undertaking by Kyoto Animation after the horrible arson attack, in which 36 innocent people lost their lives. The studio has delivered in terms of quality, so fans do not need to fret about it. They should wait patiently for City the Animation releases in July 2025. Given how Arawi’s Nichijou was also animated by the studio, City the Animation feels like the perfect project to kickstart things.

The staff for City the Animation consists of Taichi Ishidate, who previously worked on Violet Evergarden and Hyouka. Tamami Tokuyama (Violet Evergarden, Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid) is handling the character designs. Kana Miyata is in charge of color designs, while art direction is Shiori Yamazaki’s domain. Tatsunori Kase is working on 3D direction, and Yōta Tsuruoka is doing the sound direction.
City the Animation is set in a fictional metropolis in Japan. The story follows several eccentric characters whose antics are sure to make the audience laugh. Out of the various groups, the Mont Blanc Trio is primarily in the focus. The group consists of Midori Nagumo, Wako Izumi, and Ayumu Niikura. The trio tries to go about their daily lives while tackling several challenges.
City the Animation will be released in July 2025.
