Getting a horse and keeping it in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t as simple as just finding one and riding off. Not only do you have to buy one for yourself – or find Pebbles early on in the game – but you also need to maintain it.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – Complete Trosky Map
Our interactive map for the Trosky region in KCD2. All the locations, quests, NPCs, and chests in the game.
You’ll need to clean your horse and its saddle regularly. If you don’t, your horse will be covered in mud and blood from your adventures, which will then attract the attention of NPCs in the game. If you and your horse smell bad, you’ll be easy to detect and it’ll be harder to pass skill checks.
How To Wash Your Horse
To wash your horse, you need to head to a horse handler. They can be found in both regions in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
Speak to the merchant there, who you may have bought a horse from previously, and select the ‘wash horse’ option. Its base price is 200 Groschen, but you can haggle over the price like you would any other purchase. We managed to get the washing service for 165 Groschen.
It will take one hour of in-game time for the horse washing service to be completed. Therefore, it may be better to wait for another time if you’re currently in the process of completing a time-sensitive quest.
How To Find Horse Traders And Grooms
Frustratingly, horse traders aren’t as common as others in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. However, there are two reliable places to find one.
First of all, if you’re in the Trosky region, you can head to the horse trader in the Nomad Camp in the west of the region. He’ll be standing by the cart and can wash your horse for you.
Alternatively, you can head to Kuttenberg city and find a horse handler in the south west of the town. He’ll be called a Groom and will be sat at a table where some more horses are.
