If brute force and diplomacy are no longer options in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, then stealth might just do the trick. Sneaking around is far from what a chivalrous knight would do, but when push comes to shove, it’s one of the things that can help get the job done.

Henry wasn’t born a master thief, and while he might have some skill in stealth and subterfuge depending on the starting playstyle you choose in KCD2, you’ll still need to practice his Stealth skill if you want him to improve. Here’s how to do it as quickly and efficiently as possible.

How to Get Stealth XP in KCD2

KCD2 Stealth skill

Stealth XP is primarily gained by sneaking around NPCs. However, just crouching behind a villager and following them around town won’t be enough. In order to get XP, you need to stalk people and remain hidden in private property. Additionally, opening locks, pickpocketing NPCs, and taking targets down stealthily will net you XP as well.

As far as power-leveling Stealth is concerned, your best bets are sneaking near NPCs and opening locks. These are less risky than the other options, and they’re much easier to do as well.

Sneaking

Leveling Stealth with a boar in KCD2

You can get Stealth XP by sneaking inside any area that’s off-limits, such as the inner rooms of Trosky Castle or pretty much any private home of any citizen. However, if you want to get Stealth XP without any risk, the best place is right in front of Bozhena’s hut in the Trosky region.

In front of the herbwoman’s hut is a non-hostile boar. Crouch down and follow it from behind, and your Stealth level will increase incrementally. Just crouch-walking in a circle behind the boar is enough to give you XP. Keep doing this until you reach your desired Stealth level (or until you get bored).

Lockpicking

There’s a chest in Lower Semine that you can use to practice lockpicking in KCD2. When you do the Wedding Crashers quest, speak with Miller Kreyzl in Lower Semine, and he’ll let you in on the basics of thievery.

There may come a point where the chest won’t give you any more XP. If this happens to you, move on from the chest and start breaking into people’s homes. Wait for night to fall, and when people are asleep, lockpick everything in their houses. Steal things if you want, but if you’d rather not deal with the guards and a mob of angry villagers, stick with lockpicking. You can also try pickpocketing the sleeping homeowners for some extra XP.
