G2 vs GX – LEC Winter Playoffs Preview
G2 kicked off the LEC 2025 season with a slow start compared to previous years. While we have been used to their domination, especially in the first part of the season, this year things have changed, losing a few rounds and looking shaky.
That said, it didn’t take them long to get back on track, going on a 4-game win streak to finish third in the standings. The team has looked more convincing, with SkewMond and Labrov looking better after the rough start.
These two players have been particularly under scrutiny over the regular split, especially considering how Mikyx and Yike, the two players who were swapped out for them, have been performing.
On the other hand, GX started out strong but dropped at the very end losing to Team Vitality. They have somewhat met the expectations set on them, but compared to the 3-0 start in week 1, you probably wonder if they could’ve done a little bit more.
Series Breakdown
Going into the series, I would say it will be in G2’s favor. Aside from the win during the regular split, G2 has shown to have a much higher peak potential and the ability to dominate the enemies when ahead.
The only way I see GX winning the series is if their support Jun and jungler Closer manage to outplay SkewMond and Labrov. The Korean player has an impressive 83.9% KP, the highest among all LEC supports. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Noah match Hans Sama, but I doubt the same will happen to Jackies and Lot.
For GX, it will be more important to understand how they handle the Fearless Draft mode in preparation for the upcoming matches. Finding out the best team compositions and quick adaption will give them better chances in the following series. Overall, it might end up being a 2-0 win for G2.
