Even though the industry standard for a triple-A game is $70, you won’t be paying anywhere close to that for South Of Midnight regardless of the edition you choose. The standard edition of the game is just $39.99, likely because since it’s stop-motion, it’s going to be a relatively short adventure. You do get a digital version of the game and nothing else for that $40 price tag, though.
If you want more than just the game then you will need to pre-order the premium edition. For just $10 more, the premium edition of South Of Midnight comes with an artbook, the game’s soundtrack, and a connected comic book. Best of all, at least for some, is the premium edition pre-order bonus which is five days of early access. That means for premium edition owners, South Of Midnight’s release date is actually April 3, 2025.

Playing South Of Midnight On Xbox Game Pass
You might be reading all this wondering why someone would pay for South Of Midnight when it will be available on Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one. Well, aside from the fact not everyone has Game Pass on PC or its top tier on console, the version of South Of Midnight that will be added to Game Pass is the standard edition. If you want the extras, or to play the game five days early, you will need to buy the $50 premium edition.
Unlike some other Xbox games launching on Game Pass day one, South Of Midnight will not have a cheaper premium upgrade so that Game Pass subscribers can get the extra stuff without having to buy the full game.
Even if you do have Game Pass Ultimate, you might just want a copy of South Of Midnight that won’t become unplayable if your subscription lapses or the game is ever removed from the service.
