Evelyn is a Fire Attack character designated as a main DPS in Zenless Zone Zero. Despite being the only playable member of Stars of Lyra faction

alongside Astra Yao
, this doesn’t take away from her utility or synergy with a variety of characters. Her kit revolves around the Binding Seal state she gains by binding the enemies, which allows her to enter a state where she deals increased DMG while also gaining buffs through her core skill.

Overall, Evelyn’s kit isn’t overly complicated, and she doesn’t require highly specific synergies to perform well. This means players can opt for a standard Attack, Stun, Support setup in most general scenarios—especially since her additional ability increases her DMG when a Stun or Support character is present on the team.

Here are Evelyn’s best team compositions in Zenless Zone Zero, utilizing different characters while maximizing synergy and support for Evelyn.

Evelyn + Lighter + Astra Yao

Best Generalist Team Comp for Evelyn

Evelyn + Lighter + Astra Yao

Astra Yao is currently one of the best support units in the game, providing universal buffs such as ATK and DMG, while also offering the unique ability to heal the team with her Ultimate—a support function that was previously only available

through certain Bangboo
. Given these strengths, Evelyn will undoubtedly benefit from having Astra in the team, especially since Astra’s Quick Assist helps Evelyn trigger her Chain Attacks more frequently.

For the other slot, Lighter is the best Stun unit for Evelyn, as he requires minimal field time, allowing for seamless synergy with Astra Yao’s Quick Assist capabilities. While

Lighter’s buffs are generally niche
to Fire and Ice units, Evelyn can fully capitalize on them as a Fire DPS. She will benefit significantly from the Fire DMG buff and Fire RES Shred that Lighter provides, while also maintaining extended field time. The only time she’ll need to swap out is to replenish Morale and trigger Lighter’s front-loaded Daze at key moments.

Overall, this team composition is relatively easy to play, with minimal timing requirements. For players who prefer a low-swap playstyle, this setup is an excellent choice—provided they have access to all these characters, as they are limited units.

If players don’t have access to Lighter, Koleda could be a good non-limited Fire Stun option. If the team already has a Stun character to enable Evelyn’s additional ability, using Caesar instead of Astra can also work pretty well, especially if they need more defensive utility in tough battles.

Evelyn + Burnice + Lucy

Mono-Fire Team Comp for Evelyn

Evelyn + Burnice + Lucy

Players who want to capitalize on a 4-piece Inferno Metal set paired with 2-piece Woodpecker Electro to maintain over 80% Crit Rate—thereby maximizing Evelyn’s DMG output consistently—will greatly benefit from a team composition that provides consistent Fire Anomaly build-up. This is because Evelyn deals significantly more DMG when enemies are Burned if Inferno Metal 4-piece set is equipped, while also reaching 80% Crit Rate through her Core Ability.

This team composition is

quite similar to Soldier 11’s Mono-Fire Team
, as both characters function in a very similar way. The Burn effect lasts for a relatively long duration, allowing players to maintain near-permanent uptime, thanks to Burnice’s off-field Fire Anomaly application. Since Burnice’s Heat bar can be refilled to sustain her off-field abilities, Evelyn can remain on the field for extended durations without interruption. Overall, for players who already have access to Burnice and want to utilize Evelyn for more specific scenarios, this team composition offers an effective non-limited character setup that remains highly viable.

Since Burnice is

an Anomaly character
, the team requires either a Stun or Support unit for the final slot, and Lucy fills this role exceptionally well. Similar to Astra Yao, Lucy provides a universal ATK buff for the team—though her buff is lower in magnitude. However, she remains a flexible option, despite needing to be swapped in more frequently. Additionally, Lucy’s pets contribute to Fire Anomaly build-up, while also dealing a small amount of DMG and Daze.

Unlike the other two team compositions, this setup does not have strong alternative characters that can replace its core members. In particular, Burnice is an essential requirement for this mono-fire team to function effectively as a generalist team composition.

Evelyn + Anby + Nicole

Best F2P Team Comp for Evelyn

Evelyn + Anby + Nicole

Players who want to utilize Evelyn with strictly F2P characters—aside from herself—will find that pairing her with Anby and Nicole is the best option. While Anby doesn’t provide as much Stun or team-wide utility as units like Lighter or Qingyi, and has a more timing-specific rotation that may be challenging for beginners, she is currently the only 4-star and freely obtainable Stun character. Nevertheless, when properly built and played, she can still provide strong Daze capabilities for Evelyn.

For the final slot, Nicole is the ideal Support character, thanks to her DEF Shred debuff, which helps increase Evelyn’s damage output. Similar to Anby, Nicole also requires more frequent swaps and has stricter timing requirements compared to

other Support options
. However, for players who enjoy a fast-paced, timing-oriented team composition or want to challenge themselves while primarily using F2P characters, this setup offers great synergy. Additionally, Anby and Nicole can trigger each other’s additional abilities, further optimizing the team—even though Evelyn herself won’t directly benefit from Nicole’s Ether buff.

If players have access to Soukaku, she can effectively replace Nicole in this team composition, despite both herself and Anby losing the Additional Ability. While Soukaku does not provide DEF Shred like Nicole, she compensates by offering a strong ATK buff with a longer duration, making her a solid choice for general team setups. Although her buffs are most effective for Ice characters, Evelyn can still take advantage of the increased ATK, making Soukaku a viable alternative for players who prefer a more straightforward support option.
