On February 11, World of Warcraft confirmed that the Plunderstorm battle royale game mode would end on February 25, giving players just two weeks to finish earning their pirate-themed rewards. The end of Plunderstorm will coincide with the launch of World of Warcraft Patch 11.1, which will include the next chapter of The War Within expansion story.

Following a successful first run in Dragonflight Patch 10.2.6, Plunderstorm was brought back in January 2025 after nearly a year. Set in the Arathi Basin, Plunderstorm allows World of Warcraft players to queue up for a 60-player PvP battle royale.
