February marks the third anniversary of Smilegate’s popular MMORPG Lost Ark and the jubilee celebrations have been in full swing. Observance of this milestone started early and players have already been treated to events on Anniversary Island with much more still to come. There are plenty of free gifts up for grabs too, so Arkesia is very busy around this time.
In previous years, there has been a similar festival atmosphere featuring special presents and events for Lost Ark’s large player base to sink its teeth into. This year is set to be the biggest yet, and Game Rant discussed Lost Ark’s anniversary festivities with Matthew Huston, associate franchise lead for Lost Ark at Amazon Games.

Lost Ark Anniversary Celebrations
Having had a few years to grow the player base of Lost Ark gave the developers more room to add substantial updates during this birthday period. Huston explained how the team has been able to give a little extra this year than during previous anniversaries.
“I would argue that the team did more this anniversary than in prior years. At the start, everything we introduced felt fresh and new, especially around the anniversary period. This year, we had the same amount of content if not more, with events, skins, and a unique quest line.”
2024 was a busy year for Lost Ark, as players engaged with fresh events and quest lines. This year will be no different as the game continues to grow, and these anniversary celebrations are only the beginning of a busy schedule.
Venturing Into Uncharted Territory
Player feedback is very important when developing a game like Lost Ark, and Huston noted that the community in both the West and East are in regular contact. He further outlined the importance of interacting with the players, whether it be online or even within the game itself.
“Each year has a theme and this year’s anniversary event was celebrating with the community… This is where Roxx and myself get to be in Arkesia itself, working alongside the player to host a huge celebratory party. It had a nice personal touch to it. What does this celebration mean for the game this year? I think it marks being creative and trying new things.”
Of course, there is more still to come as February rolls on and players have a chance to celebrate with the team in Arkesia. February will be a busy time for the Lost Ark developers, as this month will also see the introduction of a new class, which has many players excited.

Lost Ark is a top-down fantasy MMORPG developed by Smilegate and published by Amazon. Players that enjoy the Diablo series but are looking for something with a greater MMORPG-style feel should enjoy this release.
