Undead Unluck’s Final Battle

Fuuko’s Heart Is Revealed As the Key to the Final Battle

Andy and Fuuko Undead Unluck

Our final battle begins with the revelation that Soul and the Master Rules had made a dramatic move to catch the Union off-guard; they fast forward through time in this 101st loop in order to arrive at Ragnorak. Some fans speculate that this move was perhaps inspired by real-world pressure on the author to rush the ending, but narratively it also worked well to catch the reader by surprise and force the Union into an even tougher corner.

While the combined powers of the Union were enough to overcome the challenge of most of the Master Rules, another issue arrived when it was time to face the ultimate final bosses, Soul and God. This conflict had been happening for millennia, in countless loops, and while the Union and previous Negators had managed to hold them back before, this loop would require a new tool, one that had never been seen before.

Within Undead Unluck there are the 3 Sacred Sprit Treasures that have the power to overcome God. In the previous Loop, 2 of them, Aegis and Rebellion, were used. In this 101st Loop, the Union would need to find the last one, Heart, in order to challenge God. However, this has never been seen before, until, while struggling in their final battle, Fuuko comes to a realization; she possesses the Heart.

Obtaining the power of this sacred treasure does come at a cost, however, as it will erase the memories of the user, in this case, Fuuko.

The realization that she would lose her memories was devastating, but in the face of this final battle, she knew it was a sacrifice she had to make. But before she could despair for too long, Andy assured her that he would do whatever it took to get her to love him again. And with that declaration, Fuuko finally uses the Heart to incredible effect.

In a final combined attack with Andy, utilizing the power of the Heart and the “Rule of Love”, Fuuko devastates Sun (God) and Soul, forcing Soul into one last desperate maneuver. Nevertheless, Soul cannot overcome the power of the Heart, and the Union comes out of the final battle successful.

Luna finally returns, and grants the rewards for this final victory to the Union.

  • The UMA’s are converted into passive laws of the universe, removing their presence from the Earth.
  • Negator abilities are removed, rendering all previous users regular humans again.
  • The Sacred artifacts are all destroyed, with the destruction of the Heart removing Fuuko’s memories.

After this final act, Luna takes her leave, assuring the Union that she and Sun will not interfere with the earth moving forward.

Does Undead Unluck Get A Happy Ending?

Fuuko Finally Achieves the Story She Always Dreamed Of

Though the final battle was a success, the loss of Fuuko’s memories proposes a very sad end for this character. However, Andy, with his promise to get Fuuko to fall in love with him again, comes up with another idea to help. He realizes that memories are ultimately a part of the soul of a person, and he reasons that means that there is one entity that could help get them back. He meets with Soul again, who was saved from annihilation by Luna, and asks him to restore her memories. After thinking about it for some time, and ultimately accepting defeat, Soul restores Fuuko’s memories, before taking his leave as well.

With her memories restored, the final chapter of the series fast forwards, as we see all the union members living their own lives and preparing for a major event: Andy and Fuuko’s wedding! There is one final issue, however; they both forgot their own wedding time and now have to scramble to try and make it back to see everyone again. They don’t make it in time, but ultimately end up married, riding off together with the final declaration to find the Greatest. Death. Ever.

From the very first pages of Undead Unluck, Fuuko lamented her “cursed” ability, the power of her Unluck to make anyone close to her, anyone who touched her suffer catastrophic effects. In the very first page of the story, we see her reading an in-universe parody of Kimi ni Todoke, wishing that she could achieve her own love story one day. After this five-year and over 200-chapter adventure, featuring ups and downs, successes and heartbreaks, Fuuko finally receives her happy ending. It might not be just like Kimi ni Todoke, but it is sure to go down as one of the most fun journeys in Jump.
