Details on the most-downloaded PS5 games of January 2025 have been revealed by Sony, and yet again, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has taken the top slot in North America. This is the fourth month in a row that the new entry Call of Duty has been no. 1 and it’ll be interesting to see how much longer it can maintain this position. Some big games are launching for PS5 in February and March, so there’s a good chance that Black Ops 6 could give up some ground to new arrivals, but only time will tell.
Speaking of new arrivals, two recent releases cracked the PlayStation chart. Ninja Gaiden Black 2–a remaster of the cult-classic 2008 action game–was no. 14 on the list, while Dynasty Warriors: Origins was no. 11. Beyond those games, EA and 2K’s various sports games dominated the list, as NFL, NHL, football, soccer, and UFC games remained in the top 20. Popular single-player games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Hogwarts Legacy, and Astro Bot also made an appearance, and unsurprisingly, Grand Theft Auto 5 is still a force to be reckoned with.
Meanwhile, some of the most-downloaded PS4 games included Red Dead Redemption 2, Batman: Arkham Knight, and A Way Out, while the list of most-downloaded VR games remained largely the same as in previous months. In the most-downloaded free-to-play games category, Marvel Rivals once again beat Fortnite, while the new release of Wuthering Waves on PS5 finished at no. 5.
