Street Fighter 6 has tons of tournaments, but the Cray Raccoon Cup is one of the most unique. That event is returning soon, for the Crazy Raccoon Cup 7. A new instalment of the different esports event being held for Street Fighter 6. The tournament has just been announced by the organizers online. While we don’t have some key details yet, if the past events are anything to go by we can expect something exciting here.

The Crazy Raccoon Cup is a particularly exciting event, featuring a more unique format. It doesn’t focus in on the high-level players we might normally see dominate the fighting game esports events. However, by providing this high-stakes atmosphere for up and comers, the Crazy Raccoon Cup has always found a unique niche. It might even be a big part of why the Japanese side of pro Street Fighter always seems to have so much growth. What can we expect at the Street Fighter 6 Crazy Raccoon Cup 7?

Crazy Raccoon has been regularly hosting these events for Street Fighter 6, with the most recent taking place last October. This new one has just been announced. The exact players and teams haven’t been made public yet though. These events usually feature plenty of up-and-coming players, with the last instalment being pretty much entirely newer names. Not quite the clash of the biggest names we expect at the Capcom Cup, but still entertaining. This new tournament could follow that up with more chances for new players to prove themselves.

The Crazy Raccoon Cup 7 will be a 5-v-5 tournament. Players come against each other in teams, typically playing in a single elimination bracket. It takes place over a single date, which you can follow all over the world from the official stream.

This kind of event is a bit different to what we often see in western events. Having regular competitions promoting newer players is definitely different to events like EVO. However, it might be part of why so many newer Japanese SF 6 players seem to rise up the ranks. The new tournament is beginning on February 16th, so we can start to follow along starting then.
