Konami has seemingly confirmed that the release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be August 28, 2025. Announced in 2023, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a ground-up remake of the third entry in the stealth series, developed in Unreal Engine 5 and set to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

In recent years, the Metal Gear Solid franchise has faced uncertainty. Series creator Hideo Kojima famously left Konami to establish Kojima Productions in 2015, and 2018’s Metal Gear Survive did not resonate well with fans. Following the positive reception of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, a compilation of the first five Metal Gear games, Konami is eager to release Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater in 2025.

Konami reveals what concerns prompted it to greenlit the upcoming remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, which is still without a release date.

It appears Konami will launch Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater on August 28, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. As noted by Wario64 on social media, this date was posted on Konami’s online shop as part of a promotional image featuring new Metal Gear Solid merchandise. At the time of writing, the image has been removed, suggesting that Konami may have jumped the gun with the announcement, possibly for the rumored PlayStation State of Play.

Although the image is no longer available on the Konami site, it appears that August 28 is worth watching closely, as this isn’t the first time the summer date has surfaced. The PlayStation Store briefly listed Metal Gear Solid Delta’s August release date on the game page before it was taken down. This listing also included a two-minute character trailer that highlighted the changes compared to the original title, as well as providing a glimpse of the supporting cast.

This isn’t the only speculation surrounding Konami’s tactical espionage title. Reports from reliable leakers indicate that Metal Gear Delta: Snake Eater may also come to Switch 2. According to Nate the Hate, Konami might bring Snake’s latest adventure to Nintendo’s hybrid system, although nothing has been confirmed. Nintendo is set to hold its first Switch 2 direct in April, likely offering fans their first look at the console’s launch lineup.

Konami’s recent success with the Silent Hill 2 remake demonstrates a strong demand for the Japanese company’s major franchises. For many fans, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater can’t arrive soon enough, but with Konami seemingly confirming the game’s release on August 28, 2025, there are only a few months left to wait.
