Summary
- Skyrim still impresses players with spontaneous, cinematic moments even a decade after release.
- The special killcam feature in Skyrim adds a nod to player achievements during combat.
- Fans continue to enjoy exploring Tamriel through Skyrim while awaiting The Elder Scrolls 6.
A Skyrim player got to experience an awesome moment when in the midst of a fight, with a Flame Atronach exploding at exactly the right time for a cinematic scene to occur. The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim moment shows that the game can still impress players and take them by surprise, even over a decade after its initial release.
Like some of Bethesda’s other titles, Skyrim features a special killcam that can randomly trigger when a player is in a fight. The Elder Scrolls killcam is a momentary nod to a player’s achievement, though after seeing it a few times, it may lose some of its luster. However, moments like these can make it special all over again.

Skyrim: Why You Should Start Over in 2025
It may be approaching 15 years old, but there are more than a few reasons to load up Bethesda’s classic fantasy RPG adventure in the year 2025.
Reddit user mobilesuitzetagundam shared a brief video of their experience playing Skyrim and having a Flame Atronach explode at just the right moment. The video begins with the player and their stalwart NPC companion Lydia in the midst of a fight with both a Flame Atronach and a Forsworn Looter. The two pairs duel for a moment, with the player successfully finishing off the Flame Atronach just before delivering the killing blow to the Forsworn Looter. The timing worked out perfectly, with a killcam taking place just as the player stabs through the Forsworn’s torso, and the defeated Flame Atronach exploding, with flames engulfing the area at the exact same time.
Flame Atronach Creates Cinematic Moment in Skyrim
Many players have commented on the post, expressing how impressive the scene is, especially since it happened spontaneously. Some have suggested that the moment seems like something a game might use as promotional footage because it’s just that cool. Others have pointed to the amusing reality of the scene, though, as Lydia is seen standing at the end of the clip with most of her health depleted from being in the fight and then set on fire by the Flame Atronach’s explosion. It seems some fellow Dragonborn have also experienced something similar, though others have said they’ve gone over a thousand hours without a moment this cool happening to them.
Even without modding, Skyrim still has the capability to impress and surprise players after all of these years. With no significant updates from Bethesda on The Elder Scrolls 6, Skyrim will likely have to hold out for a few more years before its successor arrives. Thankfully, many fans are still perfectly happy to be exploring the world of Tamriel through Skyrim‘s lens.
