A Pokemon Trading Card Game: Pocket player has highlighted the missing baby Pokemon from the mobile game, noting specifically the absence of Budew, Roselia’s predecessor. Baby Pokemon were introduced within Generation 2 and are the lowest forms in their evolution lines without the ability to breed. Some of Pokemon’s baby creatures include Togepi, Pichu, Elekid, Munchlax, and Cleffa, and the community has responded to their missing cards in Pokemon TCG: Pocket.
The free-to-play mobile adaptation of the ongoing physical trading card game from Creatures Inc. and DeNA was first released in October 2024 and was met with immediate success. Despite the mobile game’s lack of baby Pokemon, a Pokemon TCG: Pocket player has created a tool card concept, taking it upon themselves to try and balance the title’s card chip meta. Trainers will always have recommendations to improve their beloved tabletop hobby, but the digital game’s lack of baby Pokemon has gotten some fans’ backs up.

Posted on Reddit by Ravagore, a screenshot of the Roselia card was posted in the Pokemon TCG: Pocket subreddit, highlighting the card being a Basic one. A faded image of Budew, the baby form of Roselia, was edited over the card, joining the caption, “Look at how they massacred my boy….” Since Budew is Roselia’s predecessor, Budew should be the Basic card instead of its evolution, highlighting the glaring lack of baby Pokemon in the mobile game, unlike Pokemon GO which announced a Hatching Day event last year featuring baby monsters.
Pokemon TCG: Pocket Player Notes Baby Pokemon Are MIssing From the Mobile Game
Infant Pokemon have been in the game for a while and have become popular variants of the already cute pocket monsters, so much so that one Pokemon player designed baby versions of the legendary Pokemon. The creature in question, Budew, does have a paper card in its baby form, but some Redditors noted that both Budew and Roselia are Basic cards for gameplay purposes in the physical trading card game, existing outwith their evolutions, and it’s likely Pokemon TCG: Pocket is following this method as well instead of including baby versions.
In addition to the sprawling merchandise line accompanying the Pokemon IP, including Funko Pops, clothing, and premium plushies, the well-known Build-a-Bear company also has a lucrative Pokemon line with baby creatures, which includes last year’s addition of the Fighting-type baby Pokemon Riolu. Fans also have Cubone, Jigglypuff, and the different Eevee evolutions to pick up from the bear line, and the cuddly roster is expected to expand throughout 2025.
