The PlayStation 2 is one of the most beloved video game consoles of all time, and one fan has shared a look at their collection of some of these unopened Sony machines. While the gamer had a sealed version of the standard PS2, they also had a couple of rarer consoles, catching the attention of the PlayStation community online.

With a wide selection of first-party and third-party classics, the Sony system gained a massive following among console gamers. Throughout its lifespan, the PS2 sold over 160 million units, making it the best-selling console of all time. In a post on Reddit, a user known as DivOveR showcased their sealed collection of PS2 systems. In the pictures, the PlayStation fan displayed three consoles. While one was a standard version, the other two were rarer colors. According to DivOveR, one of their unopened PS2s was a Limited Edition Aqua Blue, which they said was not released in North America. In addition, the collection included an Automobile Edition Metallic Silver console, which was one of only 2,000 ever produced.

Many nostalgic PS2 fans weighed in on the collection in the Reddit comments. With over 3.9K upvotes, many said they liked the Limited Edition Aqua Blue version, with some wishing they would have been able to purchase that color variety growing up. In addition, some fans questioned why DivOveR chose to keep the consoles in their boxes. According to the collector, they had other consoles they had already unboxed, showing images of them in the Reddit comments. However, they claimed they would open these units in the future.

Given the mass appeal of the PS2 over the years, it is unsurprising to see fans share some interesting finds related to the console. Besides DivOveR, other gamers have discovered unopened PS2s. For example, one PlayStation fan found a PS2 LEGO Batman Bundle at their father’s place.

As players show off their PS2-related discoveries, it is worth mentioning the Sony console’s place in the record books has been challenged recently by the Nintendo Switch. While the PS2 continues to reign in total global sales, the Switch became the best-selling console in the US. While time will tell which of these consoles will ultimately come out on top, the PS2 will continue to be loved by nostalgic fans regardless of its place on the best-selling lists.
