With just over a week to go until the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced two more classic late 90s arcade titles that will be playable in the game. Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is a follow-up spinoff of last year’s Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth that takes the beloved Yakuza character Goro Majima on a pirate adventure across the seas surrounding Hawaii.
In the lead-up to Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii‘s February 21 release, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has already confirmed a number of side activities that will be on offer to players during Goro’s seafaring adventure. In December, the studio released a small teaser confirming classic Yakuza minigames that are returning, like karaoke, and some newer ones like Yakuza: Like a Dragon‘s Dragon Kart and Infinite Wealth‘s Crazy Delivery. Arcades have been a mainstay throughout the franchise’s 20-year history, and Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii will continue the tradition, having already confirmed Sega Racing Classic 2: Battle on the Edge last week.

- The Ocean Hunter
- Virtua Fighter 3tb
Virtua Fighter 3tb is returning after making its Yakuza franchise debut last year in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The Yakuza games have often featured Virtua Fighter games in their arcades, so Virtua Fighter 3tb isn’t much of a surprise, though it’s more fitting than ever considering RGG Studio will be the team behind Virtua Fighter 6, as was revealed at The Game Awards in December. The practice of adding playable arcade games into the Like a Dragon series has always been a great way to get fans of these original 90s arcade titles interested in jumping in, and the same will surely ring true for Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii.
Fans can look forward to playing Virtua Fighter 3tb and The Ocean Hunter in Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on February 21. It’s about to be a very busy two weeks of game releases, as Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii shares its release week with Xbox’s Avowed, and will be followed by Capcom’s Monster Hunter Wilds, which drops a week later. With that said, Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii certainly has enough going for it to stand out from the crowd, and its classic Sega arcade games will surely help.
