The Straw Hat pirates will mirror the Roger pirates at the end of One Piece. The end game levels of Sanji and Zoro are pretty much confirmed.
Every single fan of the series is eagerly waiting in anticipation for the journey to continue, but the manga is not going to continue this week because Oda is taking a break. This break comes at a very interesting period in the manga as Luffy, Zoro, and Nami prepare to take on Scopper Gaban, Roger’s left-hand man and a legendary monster in terms of combat abilities. Unfortunately, this battle will have to wait as Oda recovers his energy before taking on the next stretch of chapters in the story.
One Piece Chapter 1140 Delayed: Oda Takes A Break
- After A 4 Chapter Run, One Piece Goes On A Break
- Oda Deserves Some Rest
One Piece chapter 1140 is one that has all the fans excited right now, but they will have to wait quite a bit before the story continues. Fans who have read One Piece over the years should know that this isn’t surprising at all. Oda usually writes a bunch of chapters and then takes his own breaks. In fact, this whole pattern has changed quite a bit over the years. Around 2015 or so, Oda used to drop 6 chapters in a row, and then go on his much-deserved break. But, One Piece continuing serialization for so long means that, naturally, Oda is going to get exhausted as well. At the same time, Oda’s age means that he can no longer give the same output that he was once capable of. As the years passed, Oda’s ability to drop successive chapters was lowered quite a bit.
Oda went from dropping 6 chapters in a row to 5 chapters in a row. More recently, around the time of the Wano Country Arc, Oda scaled it down to 4 chapters in a row, which meant that after every month of One Piece, Oda took a two-week-long break. Now, things have changed quite a bit, as One Piece usually takes a break after every three chapters. The last few months have been especially hard for the fans, and this is because One Piece enjoyed a very rough schedule, with Oda taking his own break, to the involvement in the Live Action series taking some of his time away, and the holidays in Japan delaying the chapters. Multiple factors affected the publication of the One Piece chapters, but thankfully, it seems that Oda is now back with successive chapters like usual. In fact, Oda took things one step further and dropped 4 chapters in a row this time around, which is unheard of. The last time Oda did that was around 2022, which just goes to show how long ago it was.
Anyway, One Piece is not set to go on break, which means the upcoming Sunday will be the first time in a while that fans don’t have One Piece to look forward to. With the Egghead anime being on break as well, it only makes things harder for the fans.
One Piece Returns Next Week
One Piece Will Return On February 23, 2025
As is very well known, Oda doesn’t take long hiatuses often. Usually, Oda’s breaks allow him to skip one week of publication, meaning that the anticipated chapters drop in two weeks’ time. As such, One Piece will return in two weeks, and the next chapter of the manga, One Piece 1140, is going to be released on February 23, 2025. One Piece is most definitely going to continue its incredible journey in the Elbaf arc later this month with Chapter 1140, but it must be remembered that the chapter itself is going to be the last one for this month.
The man who stood on par with Roger and Rayleigh himself…Scopper Gaban! — Oimo and Kashi
Following the return of the manga with One Piece chapter 1140, it is highly likely that Oda will go on a run once again. At the very least, fans should be getting One Piece 1141 and One Piece 1142 right after. This is likely going to be followed by another Oda break, and so on.

One Piece 1139 has changed the powerscalling of the series. All of this is thanks to Gaban.
It will be interesting to see if Oda somehow manages to drop 4 chapters in a row once again, or if this was just a one-time thing, likely spurred on by the fact that there had been a ton of breaks lately.
One Piece Chapter 1140: Luffy and Zoro Vs Scopper Gaban
Roger’s Legendary Left-hand Man Tests Luffy And Zoro
One Piece chapter 1139 set the events for what is to come in the next chapter, and it is safe to say that all eyes are currently on Scopper Gaban. This was a reveal that Oda had been building up for a while, and he desperately wanted to introduce this character, as is evident from the fact that Gaban made his actual debut in One Piece chapter 631. Now, he stands in front of Luffy, Zoro, and Nami, and it’ll be interesting to see how they perform against him. The goal here is to steal the key from Gaban, but not before actually taking him on in combat. One Piece chapter 1140 is most definitely going to give fans a glimpse of Gaban’s strength as he competes with a Yonko, in Straw Hat Luffy, as well as his Number 2, Zoro. This battle is bound to be extremely exciting for two reasons. Firstly, fans will finally get a glimpse of how strong Gaban truly is. He’s said to be a pirate on par with Vice Captain Silvers Rayleigh and Captain Roger. As such, it’ll be interesting to see a display of legendary strength in the manga as the story continues.
If you want the key, you’ll have to get past me first. — Scopper Gaban
Secondly, fans will finally get to see Luffy go head-to-head with a character from Roger’s crew. Although Luffy has trained with Silvers Rayleigh before, he has likely not taken part in official combat against him. This time around, Luffy will be going all-out against someone who can rival Rayleigh and even Roger, so this is most definitely going to be his biggest test.
Meanwhile, the Holy Knights will continue to close in on the Walrus School, where they plan on kidnapping the children and using them as hostages in the battle against the Giants of Elbaf. Things are going to be extremely interesting going forward, and fans absolutely cannot wait to see what Oda has to offer once One Piece returns from its break.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1140, is set to be February 23, 2025.
