The caption for the poster on socials reads “It’s Johnny ********* Cage.” There’s no mention of Mortal Kombat anywhere on the poster (apart from the credits in the billing block), but fans of the series will understand the reference the film is making here.
In the Mortal Kombat universe, Johnny Cage is an actor known for starring in action films. His time in the film industry has infused him with extensive skills in martial arts. A narcissistic Hollywood actor, Cage is a departure from Mortal Kombat’s more serious roster of characters and will no doubt be a source of comedy in the upcoming film sequel.
