Yesterday, NetEase Games announced that it would be resetting Marvel Rivals players’ competitive ranks in the middle of Season 1, and it went down about as well as expected. The Fantastic Four will be reunited in Marvel Rivals on February 21.

Less than 24 hours after the announcement, it’s clear the complaints became too much because the Marvel Rivals developers have walked back its mid-season rank reset plans.

Thankfully, Marvel Rivals Players Will Keep Their Competitive Ranks Throughout The Whole Of Season 1

Responding to what it calls “a wealth of feedback from the community,” NetEase Games released a new Dev Talk blog detailing more changes to its Marvel Rivals rank reset plans.

The developers acknowledged the “pressure associated with having a rank reset every half-season,” saying that it “has made participating in competitive mode less enjoyable.”

NetEase outlined its plans for the remainder of Season 1, saying: “Players at Gold rank will receive the costume reward, as well as Crests of Honors for those in Grandmaster and above, and the Crest of Honor for the top 500 (One Above All).

“When the second half of the season begins, there will be no rank reset. Players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half. To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season. Rewards will include a new Gold rank costume and a variety of Crests of Honor, featuring distinct designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All.”

The move has already been celebrated within the community, with a new thread on Reddit garnering almost 2,000 upvotes in its first 30 minutes. NetEase was applauded for the speed in which it reversed the decision, for listening to its audience, and for not even trying to find a middle ground. Long may it continue.
