All Riddler Barley Answers In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Riddler Barley is a character that can be found only during Fast Travel encounters, and when he appears he will propose some tricky riddles to players. Here are all the riddles from Barley in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and all the answers Henry should pick to earn the rewards:
First Riddle Answer
The first time players encounter Barley, after introducing himself, he will propose his first riddle:
- 1st Riddle: What belongs to you alone, but is used more often by others?
- Answer: My Name.
The first one is relatively easy since it is a common riddle. None of the other answers make any sense at all, so Henry can immediately pick the correct one among the flops. As always, upon solving it, Barley will offer a reward. Starting from the player’s second encounter with Barley, he will demand a wager (100 Groschen) so keep this in mind from this point on.

Second Riddle Answer
Upon encountering Barley for the second time, there will be a wager before he proposes a riddle. Once players pay he will ask his second riddle:
- 2nd Riddle: Once upon a time there was a fool of a farmer. Family he had none, no stable boys either, so he talked to his animals instead. And, good man that he was, whenever he made a Groschen or two, he shared it with them according to his own rules. Every hen in the coop was paid five Groschen, every bee in the hive 15, and the spider in the loft bagged a full twenty Groschen. And now you tell me, how much did the cat get?
- Answer: 10.
The complexity of the riddles has increased. In this case, it is a mathematical riddle, where the answer lies in the amount paid to the animals. But what are the rules the farmer follows? Simply paying up according to the legs each animal has. Dividing the first amount (5 Groschen) per the number of legs will result in 2.5 Groschen per animal leg. Thus, the cat receives 10 Groschen, since he has 4 legs.
Third Riddle Answer
The third riddle doesn’t increase in difficulty too much, but Henry will have to pay 150 Groschen this time before he can hear it from Barley:
- 3rd Riddle: Jaromir the coachman hailed from Raborsch. One morning, he set off for Kuttenberg with an empty coach. Three lads boarded in Bohunowitz. When he arrived in Bojischt, one of the boys got out and a washerwoman took his place. In Horschan, the washerwoman went on her way and a pedlar and his daughter boarded. In Pschitoky, the remaining lads alighted and took the peddler’s daughter with them. And straight away, two fishermen got in. And on reaching Kuttenberg that evening, they invited the coachman to the bathhouse and got pig-drunk. And now you tell me, what was the coachman’s name?
- Answer: Jaromir.
Actually, there’s no riddle here, only a memory test to see if players were paying attention to the dialogue. So, for those who usually skip dialogue cutscenes, this might be a little bit tricky. The answer is simple: the name of the coachman mentioned at the start of the riddle. Of course, after answering correctly, Henry will get his Groschen back alongside a reward of his choosing.

Fourth Riddle Answer
The last Riddle from the Barley series is a little bit more complicated, and once more, it requires an escrow of 150 Groschen to participate in the challenge:
- 4th Riddle: A bailiff has twelve men join up for service one day. The bailiff was glad but soon discovered that he didn’t have enough gear for them in the armory. So those twelve men filed onto the square for the next morning’s roll call. Six of them were wearing body armor, four had helmets. Only three of them wore both a helmet and body armor. Now, tell me, how many men were unlucky enough not to have either a helmet or armor?
- Answer: Five.
Another mathematical riddle that involves discerning the clues among all the information received. One of the clues is the amount of guards that wear full-body armor (3), then there are a total of 12 guards, but 4 of them have helmets, and 6 wear armor. If we examine this carefully, we conclude that from those guards mentioned, we can reach a total amount of 7 guards wearing any piece of armor. Thus, making it quite obvious that the remaining 5 didn’t get the equipment.
Should Players Choose Knowledge Or Whatever Is In His Pocket?
Groschen-hungry players might have thought of asking for whatever Barley has in his pockets (which is gold coins) but they should think otherwise. The other option is to receive a permanent buff to their Skills (as with what is generally received from Skill Trainers) and this will come as a reward for answering each of his riddles.
So it is highly recommended that players pick Knowledge over Money, since the latter can be farmed around quite easily, and the skill experience (more so in the late-game stages) can come in handy and is harder to pile up.
