Between GTA 6, Doom The Dark Ages, and Monster Hunter Wilds, there’s a lot to look forward to in 2025. But for the moment, the Elden Ring Nightreign beta has our collective attention. Largely, I feel like it’s because the premise is still a little mysterious. We know it’s got a roguelike structure. We know that you play Nightreign in teams of four. But having spent the last 16 years perfecting the brutally hard, soulslike formula, the new Elden Ring game is an intriguing twist in direction by FromSoftware. The beta starts soon and thousands if not millions of people are lined up to try the RPG spin-off. If you bagged an invite, From has good news.
The Elden Ring Nightreign playable test is almost upon us and the new roguelike and RPG will be available to test during five separate sessions. Games are supposed to last around 40 minutes and challenge parties of players to defeat increasingly tough enemies and bosses – you take the central combat of the 2022 namesake, distill it into seriously difficult set piece battles, and that, it seems, is Nightreign’s core premise.

FromSoftware has already delivered initial invites. There were also some opportunistic people selling them online. But now there’s an update. If you were waiting on an actual Elden Ring Nighreign beta access code, following the confirmation email, make sure to check your inbox, as these have just been dispatched. We’ve also confirmed the Elden Ring Nightreign beta start date and all the beginning and end times for every individual session.
It’s worth noting that you don’t need to own either the Elden Ring base game or the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC to access the Nightreign beta, so if you’re worried about re-downloading the giant RPG ahead of time, there’s no need.
While we wait for the start date, check out some of the other best soulslikes, or maybe catch up on the full Elden Ring Nightreign release date, which is hopefully on its way soon.
