Alchemy is one of the many skills Henry can cultivate in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and if you’re the type who likes brewing potions, there’s a lot to love when it comes to the potionmaking minigame here. The majority of brew recipes you can find are medical in nature, and that includes Fever Tonics.
While Henry himself may have no need for medicine all the time, some circumstances might go in his favor if he had at least something to offer. Brewing potions in KCD2 is no simple task, but if you can spare the time to get a Fever Tonic or two, you might end up pleasantly surprised.

Forbidden Fruit is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 that introduces two new NPCs to Henry. Here’s how to complete it.
How to Brew Fever Tonics in KCD2
One of the main story beats that involves making a Fever Tonic is the For Whom The Bell Tolls quest. It’s a bit of a long and winded story, but in there, Henry will need to brew a Fever Tonic for Thomas, the captain of the Trosky guard. During this same quest, you’ll find a book containing the recipe for Fever Tonics, and you’ll need to brew one in order to save the captain from certain death.
To brew a Fever Tonic, you need the following herbs:
- Feverfew
- Elderberry Leaves
- Ginger
You can find these herbs in the wild, but for the sake of convenience, it’d best to visit apothecaries instead, as they tend to have a variety of reagents for sale. If the Troskowitz apothecary doesn’t have any of these ingredients, look for Aranka at the Nomad Camp or Herbalist Barnaby in the forest clearing north of Trosky Castle.
The process of making a Fever Tonic is simple, but make sure to follow them exactly as the recipe book says. Otherwise, you’ll risk getting one of low quality. The Fever Tonic recipe is as follows:
- Add Wine as your potion base.
- Add three handfuls of Feverfew to the cauldron.
- Boil the Feverfew for two turns of the sandglass.
- Crush one handful of Elderberry Leaves, then add to the cauldron.
- Add two handfuls of Ginger to the cauldron.
- Distill.
It’s very important that you distill the brew. To do so, grab a phial and look at the distillation flask to see the button prompt.
What are Fever Tonics For?
As its name implies, a Fever Tonic is for curing high fevers. It won’t be of much use to Henry (unless he somehow gets sick), and outside of story or quest purposes, the best thing to do with Fever Tonics is to just sell them for quick money.
A Fever Tonic of good quality can sell for a pretty penny, especially if you manage to get all the herbs without spending any Groschen. If you want to brew a tonic, you can always use the Alchemy Station in Troskowitz. It’s in a shed on the apothecary’s property.
