A recent Genshin Impact leak has revealed the Ascension Materials for Varesa and Iansan, the two characters set to make a playable debut in Version 5.5. While Genshin Impact players are fond of gathering Ascension Materials ahead of a character’s release, this isn’t always manageable. A new map expansion comes with a new World Boss, new Ascension Materials, and even a new Trounce Domain in some cases. Version 5.5 won’t be any different in this regard, but that doesn’t mean that Genshin Impact players won’t be able to pre-farm for Varesa and Iansan to a certain degree.
Iansan and Varesa in Genshin Impact are intended to be the stars of Version 5.5. The former is a 4-Star Electro Polearm character that will seemingly play a Support role, while the latter is a 5-Star Electro Catalyst with a focus on Plunging Attacks. The exciting thing about Iansan is that she appears to provide an ATK buff to the active teammate, but unlike with Bennett, isn’t restricted to a circle radius. Coupled with her ability to wield the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, Iansan is shaping up to be a potent Support.

Genshin Impact Leaks Natlan Map Expansion for Version 5.5
A recent Genshin Impact leak provides an overview of the upcoming zone in Version 5.5, which will expand the map of Natlan towards the southwest.
Thanks to Narc1ssus, Genshin Impact players can take a look at the required Ascension Materials for both Iansan and Varesa ahead of Version 5.5. While both Genshin Impact characters will require Local Specialties from the new Natlan zone, the rest of the materials for Iansan are already available to players. On the other hand, Varesa will require materials from the upcoming World Boss located in the Great Volcano of Tollan – which means that her fans will need to keep their Fragile Resin stocked for Version 5.5.

One thing that prospective Varesa players should keep in mind is that Version 5.5 is also going to add a new Artifact Set to Genshin Impact designed with her ability kit in mind. As a Plunge hypercarry, Varesa seems to stand out from the rest by being a Catalyst user, and by also being Electro – potentially allowing Overload or Aggravate teams to be built for the Plunge playstyle.
In terms of Talent Materials, Varesa will make use of Conflict tomes, while Iansan will use Contention tomes to upgrade her skills. While the Genshin Impact community hopes that HoYoverse will lift the weekly rotation of Talent Materials, players will need to work around these restrictions in Version 5.4 as they prepare for Iansan and Varesa’s debut. Though the Event Banners for Version 5.5 are unknown, many signs point towards Venti and Xianyun in Genshin Impact joining Varesa as the featured 5-Stars. Version 5.5 is set to launch on March 26, 2025.
