After much anticipation, a recent Genshin Impact leak finally offers players their first look at Iansan’s full ability kit, who is set to make her playable debut in Version 5.5 as a 4-star Electro Polearm. Travail characters hold a special place in the hearts of Genshin Impact players, as not only are they the first impression of each individual region of Teyvat, but they have also been teased since September 2020. The road from first appearance to playable debut has been a long one for Iansan, and she certainly carried heavy expectations as the doors of Natlan opened in August 2024.

While her role in the Archon Quest was relatively small compared to Citlali or Ororon, Iansan being a pint-sized warrior and fitness instructor made her a popular character in an ever-growing cast. However, when Iansan was confirmed to be a 4-star character in Genshin Impact, it sparked some controversy among fans – especially since the 5-star of her patch, Varesa, also belonged to the Collective of Plenty and shared Iansan’s element.

Genshin Impact Leaks Varesa and Iansan Ascension Materials

Thanks to a recent leak in the Genshin Impact community, players can get an early look at the Ascension Materials needed for Varesa and Iansan.

According to Seele Leaks, Iansan is a Support character in Genshin Impact that can heal, provide an ATK buff, and has a unique attack combo that triggers though her Elemental Skill. The most exciting thing about her ability kit is that Iansan seems to fill the same niche as Bennett, except her Elemental Burst isn’t restricted to a circle radius, but rather follows the active character around. The duration of the buff isn’t fixed, and can be extended as long as the active character keeps moving. It is currently unclear if Plunging Attacks count as distance traveled, but assuming they do, Iansan could establish herself as a powerful Support for Plunge teams in Genshin Impact.

Genshin Impact: Iansan’s Ability Kit

Base Abilities

  • Normal Attack: Performs up to three consecutive spear strikes.
  • Charged Attack: Consumes a certain amount of stamina to dash forward, dealing damage to enemies in her path.
  • Plunging Attack: Descends from midair to strike the ground, damaging enemies along the path and dealing area-of-effect damage upon impact.
    • In the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, lansan’s Charged Attack transforms into a powerful “Thunderous Dive,” consuming stamina to leap forward and deal AoE Electro damage with a unique property.
  • Elemental Skill: lansan dashes forward, dealing Electro damage with a unique property to enemies in her path. After the dash, pressing the normal attack button allows her to perform a “Thunderous Dive” without consuming stamina. After casting, lansan restores her Nightsoul Points to the maximum and enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state.
  • Nightsoul’s Blessing: Continuously consumes Nightsoul Points. When these points are depleted or the skill is cast again, the state ends. In this state, lansan’s movement speed and jumping ability are increased. Holding the sprint button switches to the “Lightning Rush” mode, significantly increasing her movement speed and jumping ability for a short duration.
    • In this mode, lansan can leap over terrain differences or consume additional Nightsoul Points to move over water and Liquid Phlogiston, becoming immune to related damage.
  • Elemental Burst: lansan stomps the ground, dealing AoE Electro damage with a unique property, and summons a special kinetic marker. Upon casting, lansan gains 15 Nightsoul Points and enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state. The kinetic marker disappears when lansan’s Nightsoul’s Blessing state ends.
  • Kinetic Marker: The kinetic marker follows the active character and increases their attack based on lansan’s Nightsoul Points:
    • If lansan has less than 42 Nightsoul Points, the increase is based on both her Nightsoul Points and attack.
    • If lansan has at least 42 Nightsoul Points, the increase is based solely on her attack.
    • Additionally, while the kinetic marker is present, it records the movement distance of the active character (excluding lansan). Every second, based on the previous second’s recorded movement distance, lansan restores Nightsoul Points. The kinetic marker disappears when lansan’s Nightsoul’s Blessing state ends.
    • When not in combat, the kinetic marker disappears after 1 second. While the kinetic marker is present, if lansan is off-field, the Nightsoul’s Blessing state does not end.

Passive Talents

  • P1: After “Thunderous Dive” hits an enemy, lansan gains the “Standard Action” effect for 15 seconds. During this time, her ATK increases by 20%, and when restoring Nightsoul Points through the kinetic marker, she recovers an additional 1 point.
    • Additionally, when the active character (excluding lansan) consumes or restores Nightsoul Points, lansan’s next restoration through the kinetic marker recovers an additional 4 points; this effect can be triggered once every 2.8 seconds. The “Standard Action” effect ends when lansan’s Nightsoul’s Blessing state ends.
  • P2: When nearby party members trigger a Nightsoul Burst, lansan gains the “Warm-up Effect” for 10 seconds. During this time, when lansan restores at least 1 Nightsoul Point, she also heals the active character (excluding herself) for 60% of her ATK; this effect can be triggered once every 2.8 seconds.
  • P3: After Nightsoul Points are depleted, if lansan is on the field, she consumes Phlogiston to maintain the Nightsoul’s Blessing state. In areas with the Phlogiston mechanism, when switching to lansan while the active character is sprinting, in specific movement states granted by talents, or airborne at a certain height, lansan enters the Nightsoul’s Blessing state and gains 25 Nightsoul Points. This can be triggered once every 10 seconds.
  • P4: In areas with the Phlogiston mechanism, when the Phlogiston level decreases from above 50% to below 50%, 10 points are restored; this effect can be triggered once every 10 seconds.

Constellations

  • C1: In combat, while lansan is in the Nightsoul’s Blessing state, every 6 Nightsoul Points consumed restores 15 energy to herself; this effect can be triggered once every 18 seconds.
  • C2: Upon casting her Elemental Burst, lansan also gains the “Standard Action” effect from her first passive talent for 15 seconds; additionally, while this effect is active, if lansan is off-field, the active character’s attack increases by 30%.
  • C3: Increases the level of her Elemental Skill by 3, up to a maximum of 15.
  • C4: While the kinetic marker is present, when the active character (excluding lansan) uses an Elemental Burst, lansan gains two stacks of “Force Surge,” lasting until the kinetic marker disappears; this can be triggered once per kinetic marker summon. When lansan restores Nightsoul Points through the kinetic marker, one stack is consumed to restore an additional 4 Nightsoul Points. Additionally, if the Nightsoul Points restoration exceeds the maximum, lansan’s next restoration through the kinetic marker restores an additional amount equal to 50% of the excess.
  • C5: Increases the level of her Elemental Burst by 3, up to a maximum upgrade level of 15.
  • C6: Extends the duration of the Kinetic Marker by 3 seconds. When lansan triggers a Nightsoul Points restoration effect, if the restored amount exceeds the maximum limit, she gains the “Extreme Effort” effect, increasing the damage dealt by the current active character in the party by 25% for 3 seconds.

The Constellations for Iansan in Genshin Impact appear to be generous, as many players will likely be satisfied with just C2 on its own. Curiously, the amount of Nightsoul Points restored via Iansan’s first passive is increased if a Natlan character is present in the party, making her the perfect teammate for Varesa. Pairing Iansan with a Natlan character also unlocks her healing, as it gets activated by triggering a Nightsoul Burst.

While her exact multipliers are currently unknown, the community has had nothing but glowing praise for Iansan’s ability kit. In fact, the excitement is so palpable that many of her fans are nervous. They worry that Iansan won’t survive beta testing, and that her ability kit will be significantly nerfed in the coming weeks. Though the Event Banners for Version 5.5 have yet to be revealed, fans expect Iansan to be paired up with either Varesa, Venti, or Xianyun in Genshin Impact. Version 5.5 is set to launch on March 26, 2025.
