Summary
- Destiny 2 players attempting to catch up on older content have started to run into bugs, making certain activities unplayable.
- Players are reporting bugs in activities like Onslaught: Salvation from Episode Revenant, Kell’s Fall, Sundered Doctrine, and more.
- Bungie is aware of the issues but has not provided a timeline for fixes, increasing player frustration over ongoing problems.
Following the initial Episode Heresy update to Destiny 2, players have begun to notice that other legacy parts of the game, including activities introduced in Episode Revenant, are now functioning as intended. As a live service title, Destiny 2 is no stranger to frequent updates, whether through hot fixes, larger seasonal releases, or the yearly expansions. Unfortunately, as code continues to change at a rapid pace, the likelihood of bugs also rises.
Episode Heresy launched on February 4 in Destiny 2 and so far, players seem to be enjoying the return of the Dreadnaught alongside the new episodic activity known as The Nether. Similar to the previous seasonal cycle, players largely have a year to explore content they may have missed, with many expecting the summer’s Codename Frontiers expansion to kick off a sort of clean state environment, where Episodic content from Echoes, Revenant, and Heresy will be placed within the Destiny vault.

As such, there are plenty of Destiny 2 players jumping back into the game and attempting to catch up by exploring content introduced in the previous episodes. Unfortunately, players have started to realize that certain activities are now broken, rendering them unplayable or unable to be completed as expected. Players have flocked to online forums like Reddit to highlight these issues, including Umbra4042, who is helping a returning friend catch up by playing activities like Episode Revenant’s new Onslaught: Salvation mode, though new bugs are making it impossible.
Destiny 2 Episode Heresy Broken Missions and Other Content
Presenting a list of everything they’ve found so far, Umbra4042 has noted that Onslaught: Salvation no longer has healing regeneration, a bug that has likely come over from Destiny 2 Episode Heresy’s new Nether activity. In addition, Onslaught Salvation now defaults to the full 50 waves, and now Major fieldworks no longer prompt players at the table resulting in a soft lock. Others in the comments also confirmed these issues, while others highlighted issues impacting Kell’s Fall, the Machine Gun Overload mod, the critical spot not functioning on the second boss of the Sundered Doctrine dungeon, and more.
The good news is that Bungie is at least aware of some of these issues, as its Known Issues page confirms the soft lock issue from Kell’s Fall as well as the Major Fieldwork missions being inaccessible. Unfortunately, there’s no date for when these issues will be addressed, keeping players from catching up in the meantime. Frustration from players appears to be rising, however, as many highlight the fact that Bungie’s 2024 layoffs saw major portions of its QA staff leave the company, a decision which has seemingly led to multiple major Destiny 2 problems impacting Episode Revenant and now Heresy.
