Super Mario Wonder
You’ll “Wonder” Where Your Communication Skills Went
For raw undiluted gaming fun with friends, it’s tough to find a better name than Mario. Boot up a title with his moustachioed mug on the cover, and the odds are good you’ll be in for a heck of a time. The most recent 2D Switch entry, Mario Wonder, is an ideal co-op choice for couples.
Multiplayer in 2D Mario is nothing new; it dates back to the Wii and the evergreen New Super Mario Bros. subseries. However, Wonder is far more accessible than those, removing a lot of the frustrating player interactions (like knocking each other off cliffs) to sand off the edges for newcomers. Granted, there’ll still be a lot of cursing at one another for stealing powerups – but you’ll feel bonded with your beau by the time the credits roll.

Disney Dreamlight Valley
When You Wish Upon Real Estate, Your Investments Come True
- Released
-
December 5, 2023
- ESRB
-
E For Everyone
Dreamlight Valley is Disney’s explicit shot at a slice of the Animal Crossing pie, and has done well to stick in the zeitgeist for almost three years now, past its early access period. Your avatar happens upon a derelict fairytale burg from their youth (curiously populated only with characters that fall under the Disney IP umbrella) and is tasked with rejuvenating it.
Dreamlight Valley offers hundreds of hours of content, even just in single-player; with tens of villagers to befriend, all with their own quests, plus two expansive DLC islands (and counting). Activate Vanellope’s ‘Valley Visits’ portal; however, you and your squeeze can run the town together. Fish, mine, shop, and snap photos to your heart’s content.

Untitled Goose Game
Honk, Honk, And Honk Some More

E For Everyone
No, that title isn’t an error – the developers of Untitled Goose Game weren’t sure what to call their quirky puzzler and so eventually opted to stick with the placeholder name that had tickled players at expos. It’s an irreverent moniker that perfectly sets up the hilarity in store.
Your task, as an irate and mischievous goose, is to make various people’s lives a misery. By honking and waddling strategically, you can trigger environmental animations that put you one webbed foot closer to your goals. The couples potential comes in the vague hints, prompting lots of verbal communication and putting your heads together to figure out what the missions are asking of you.

Heave Ho
Give It The Old Heave-Ho
For couples looking for a fun and challenging co-op game on the Nintendo Switch, Heave Ho is an excellent choice. Players must navigate increasingly complex levels using only their character’s arms, making communication and coordination key to success. Multiplayer mode adds an extra layer of complexity as players must work together to swing their way across surfaces.
The game also features mini-games and character customization options. While the lack of unique multiplayer stages may be disappointing for some, Heave Ho’s chaotic and hilarious gameplay more than makes up for it. Overall, it’s a fantastic option for couples looking to spend quality time gaming together.
