Bungie has set off a wave of new Destiny 2 fashion enthusiasm with the release of new Star Wars Stormtrooper armor designs to the in-game cosmetic store. The Destiny 2 Star Wars armor was added to the game alongside Heresy, the latest major content update, on February 4, 2025.
Destiny 2 is seeing a resurgence of activity in the wake of a recent struggle with declining player numbers. The game’s latest update, Heresy, will be the last of the current era of the game, finally closing the Light and Darkness saga kicked off by the launch of Destiny 2: The Final Shape, an expansion that numbers among the series’ best. Once the Heresy episode is put to bed, all eyes will be on Destiny 2: Frontiers to deliver the shot in the arm the game needs to see it into a new period. To help get Destiny 2 that attention, Bungie has launched what might be the most significant crossover for the game yet: a Star Wars-themed content drop.

Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy made some big changes to the gameplay loop, and one class is finally breaking away from its tropes.
That Destiny 2 Star Wars crossover comes, like most other cross-brand Destiny 2 content, in the form of premium cosmetic upgrades sold through the in-game Eververse store. Players in the game’s bustling fashion community are eagerly snapping up the new armor ornaments and using them for countless highly creative new looks. In the last several days, the DestinyFashion Reddit community has seen numerous submissions incorporating parts from the different sets, including costumes to recreate different varieties of Star Wars costumes such as Samurai Stormtroopers or even the swimsuit-clad Beach Trooper from the Lego Star Wars games.
Player-created Destiny 2 Star Wars Costumes Evoke Samurai Stormtroopers and More
Star Wars Samurai Stormtrooper Destiny 2 Costume (Hunter)
- Head – Covert Ranger Mask (Vanguar Angelos Shader)
- Arms – Iron Symmachy Grips (Precursor Vex Chrome Shader)
- Chest – Covert Ranger Vest (Ceramic Alloy Shader)
- Legs – Iron Forerunner Strides (Ceramic Alloy Shader)
- Class Item – Iron Pledge Ornament (Pole Position Shader)
One of the most original works is a Hunter costume by user DPT_Doofy, designed to look like the popular Star Wars Samurai line of alternative character designs. Also seen in a recent Fortnite x Star Wars Samurai crossover, DPT_Doofy’s Samurai Stormtrooper design evokes Hunter parts from a variety of different sources centered around the Covert Ranger Mask, which is based on the Rogue One Death Trooper design. The ensemble creates a credible facsimile of the samurai-themed Stormtrooper armor, bringing its medieval Japanese styling to the far-future setting of Destiny 2.
Star Wars Beach Trooper Destiny 2 Costume (Titan)
- Head – Shock Enforcer Helm (No Shader)
- Arms – Shock Enforcer Gauntlets (Gambit Suede Shader)
- Chest – Mimetic Savior Plate (Mantle of Duty Shader)
- Legs – Shock Enforcer Greaves (Gambit Suede Shader)
- Class Item – Shock Enforcer Mark (Celestial Ties Shader)
Meanwhile, a sillier Destiny 2 Stormtrooper costume from user slipshodleaf74 paid tribute to the “Beach Trooper,” a joke character found in the Lego Star Wars games. Mostly using parts from the Destiny 2 Titan Stormtrooper armor introduced with the crossover, slipshodleaf74 used bits of alternative color blocking from the Mimetic Savior plate to recall the swimsuit worn by the now-iconic Beach Trooper, who eschews all but the default Imperial Stormtrooper helmet in their quest for fun in the sun.
From the looks of things, the Star Wars Destiny 2 crossover is a big hit. That’s no surprise, considering Star Wars’ popularity, but it also speaks to how closely aligned the Destiny 2 aesthetic can be with some of the most beloved costumes of all time.
