Summary
- Pokemon’s life-size Gardevoir is already available in the US.
- The only problem is it’s a lot more expensive than it is in Japan.
- The plush costs $320 in Japan but has been priced at $450 at the US Pokemon Center.
Pokemon revealed it was adding a five-foot-tall Gardevoir to its life-size plush collection last month. That reveal caused quite a stir for some Pokemon fans. Not me though, why is everyone looking at me like that? The giant Gardevoir was very briefly exclusive to Japan but is already available in the US and elsewhere. The bad news is it costs a heck of a lot more stateside than it does in Pokemon’s home country.
When converting yen to dollars, buying the Gardevoir plush in Japan costs roughly $320. While that might seem like a lot for a plush, it’s actually pretty cheap for one of Pokemon’s bigger options. Based on how much some of Pokemon’s other life-size plushes cost in the US, we should have known having a five-foot Gardevoir to call our own for $320 was always going to be too good to be true.

The Pokemon and their variants are held together by magnets, and there’s a lot more in the collection than just plushes.
Knowing how popular the Gardevoir plush is going to be despite its size and price, Pokemon has fast-tracked its worldwide release and pre-orders are now open in the US. If you want it, you’re going to have to pay $450 for the privilege. That’s right, it’s not just a little bit more expensive than it costs in Japan, but over $100 more. Maybe it would have been cheaper to buy it from Japan and have it shipped after all.

Anyone Fancy Going Halves And Doing A Shared Custody Thing?
Despite its high price, Gardevoir is not the most expensive plush to have been released by Pokemon, although it is the most expensive that’s currently in stock. Altaria, Mareep, and Porygon are tied for the most expensive plushes to have been sold through the Pokemon Center, all of them retailing for $499.99 each. None of them is taller than Gardevoir, but they’re all quite a bit bulkier, hence the slightly higher price point.

Gardevoir Poké Plush
Pokemon has added Gardevoir to its life-size plush collection. Standing at slightly more than five feet tall, not only is the plush big enough that it will be like having another person in the house, but it’s designed to be the same size as Gardevoir appears in the games and the anime.
Gardevoir’s not the first bipedal Pokemon to have been turned into a giant plush that can stand alongside you. Lucario has a slightly smaller plush that sold for $419.99 when it was in stock. That it and all of Pokemon’s very expensive life-size plushes are all now sold out is evidence that for some, they’re not overpriced. It’s also an indicator that Gardevoir’s plush probably won’t be available for long.
If you’re a Gardevoir fan but not prepared to drop $450 on a plush, or you simply don’t want a five-foot Gardevoir in your home, Pokemon also revealed a much smaller Gardevoir Funko Pop last month for a heck of a lot less.
