Phasmophobia is Already a Big Hit on Consoles
A short time after its arrival on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Phasmophobia crosses an important milestone and continues its impressive run.
With Phasmophobia now finally being available across all of its target platforms, Kinetic is fully focused on expanding and otherwise improving its hit game. To that end, the developer recently shared a roadmap outlining its Phasmophobia plans for 2025 and beyond. In terms of major updates, the first one on the agenda is Chronicle, which will expand Phasmophobia with the addition of a Sound Recorder. Like the name suggests, this new piece of equipment will allow players to record audio to aid in their ghost hunts. The device will offer visual indicators pointing to the direction of sound sources. Once the player gets close enough to one of them, the gadget will automatically start recording. All recordings will be accessible from the Journal.
Phasmophobia Content Roadmap for 2025 and Beyond
- Major updates: Chronicle, Player Character Overhaul
- Maps and reworks: Bleasdale Farmhouse, Grafton Farmhouse, new small map
- Seasonal events: Easter, Halloween, holiday season 2025
- Releasing in 2026: Horror 2.0 update, House map reworks, more seasonal events
The second big update Phasmophobia has planned for 2025 will completely overhaul its player characters. Refreshed models with more detailed textures will be part of this package, together with improved animations and some other minor changes. The previously announced character customization revamp won’t be included in this patch but has instead been scheduled for 2026 so that the developers first have time to focus on the Horror 2.0 update, which is meant to mark the official end of the game’s early access phase. The 2026 patch may also end up eliminating Phasmophobia‘s weird “bendy backs” bug, even though some vocal players have grown to love it to the point of asking Kinetic to keep it.
Phasmophobia Is Getting a New Map in a Unique Location
Some Phasmophobia maps—including Bleasdale Farmhouse and Grafton Farmhouse— are planned to be reworked over the course of 2025. Kinetic also intends to release a new map before the end of the year. While the developer hasn’t shared many details about the upcoming addition, it mentioned that the mysterious level will be on the smaller side and set in a unique location unlike anything else currently present in the game.
The PC and console versions of Phasmophobia should receive all of its future updates around the same time. The game’s console ports have already proven to be a big success, surpassing 2 million sales in their first three months on the market.
