Instead of putting your controller down or going AFK while time passes, the game offers a couple of ways to skip time instantly. Knowing how to use these options will help you progress efficiently without unnecessary waiting. This guide will walk you through the methods to skip time easily.

How To Skip Time

Sleep

The most obvious way to skip time in the game is by sleeping. However, you first need to have a bed of your own to sleep peacefully.

If you try to sleep in someone else’s bed, you will get interrupted and may even get into trouble for it.

If you’re wondering how to get a bed, you need to find Lodgings or Taverns.

By speaking to the owner, you’ll have the option to rent a bed for one night or longer, allowing you to use it whenever you need to rest and skip time.

You can sleep for a maximum of 12 hours. Not only does this skip time, but it also restores your energy and health, and most importantly, saves your progress in the game.

If you open the map, you will see a bed icon labeled Your Bed, which helps you keep track of all the places where you can sleep.

Fast Travel

If sleeping sounds like a hassle, fast traveling in the game also skips time, though in a way you cannot control.

When you fast travel from one location to another, you essentially skip the time it would take to travel there.

This can be a convenient option if you need to skip just a few hours.

Wait

If neither of the above options works for you, then the best way to skip time is simply to wait. That’s right – just wait. But how do you do that?

Depending on your platform, you can bring up the waiting menu by pressing T on your keyboard if you’re on PC or the Touch Pad on console. Doing so will bring up a 24-hour wheel, allowing you to freely skip time to whenever you want.

You can wait for a maximum of one day (24 hours), but keep in mind that it consumes both energy and hunger.
