Sims can perform on the streets for extra cash, even without any creativity. From singing to playing an instrument, your Sims can play for tips and collect money from passersby. It takes time, but it’s a sure-fire way to get some cash.
Be warned that if your Sim isn’t gifted, it probably won’t go well. Others may shout at your Sim to stop playing or actively cover their ears and boo. However, with enough practice, you can spend your evenings peddling for change. If your Sim has the Fortune Aspiration at a low enough level, they may impulsively start panhandling on the sidewalk.

Get A Job
The most effective way to make simoleons is to get a job. There are dozens to choose from, each with a unique combination of skills that help your Sim thrive in the workplace. However, these have a structured schedule and limited flexibilty.
You’ll spend a lot of time working on recovering from work and waiting for your days off, so Sims have a lot less free time to use. That means that romance and friendships will have to wait, which might not be ideal for your Sim’s needs. Thankfully, the Slacker career offers a decent salary with more forgiving hours.

Every Sim can pick up a hobby, and there are plenty to choose from. By watching TV, exploring the world, and focusing on their skills, Sims can develop a passion for something like tinkering or cuisine.

With the ability to set your own prices, you can match demand with your supply of goods. The perks you get from ranking up your business(es) can also reward you with lump sums, from a few hundred simoleons to tens of thousands of them.

Send Your Pet To Work
Pets are more than just your furry friends. In The Sims 2, Pet Sims can get a job and go to work just like their human counterparts. While the pool of jobs is limited to only three tracks, the requirements for a promotion are much smaller.
Unfortunately, only cats and dogs can get jobs. Birds and gerbils aren’t wanted in the workplace.
When you send your pet to work, they’ll be busy for a few hours before bringing back a lump sum of simoleons. Let them earn their keep and fill their $20 kibble bowls themselves so you can focus on living the good life.

Scholarships are great ways for teen Sims to get money before going off to college, but there are several specific conditions that must be met. There are the traditional methods, like getting good grades and maxing out a skill, but unorthodox scholarships exist as well.

For example, teenagers that are vampires or zombies have a special fund available. Meanwhile, Sims that have been orphaned will also receive a $1,500 sum towards their next semester of college. We’re not saying you should kill your Sim’s parents for college money, but accidents happen.

Marry Into Money
If your Sim moves into a new neighborhood and meets a rich family, why toil to make your own wealth when you can just marry the next single family member? So long as the relationship is age appropriate, no one will bat an eye. It doesn’t have to be a love connection, nor does it need to last forever.
Mortimer Goth has a large accumulation of wealth, and surely he’ll leave a large portion of it to his next spouse since Bella Goth mysteriously disappeared. So long as your Sim treats their spouse right, what’s wrong with a fiscal marriage?

The best way to make money in The Sims 2 is to paint. With a high creativity skill, your Sim’s painting will be a lovely addition to any home, making them a profitable venture.
As your sim develops better skills, you can even create custom paintings. With the production of several pieces in a day, your sim can create a nice little nest egg for retirement.
