There’s a lot that changes throughout the Harry Potter franchise. Some characters die, relationships change, the stakes increase, and settings become more diverse. But there are plenty of throughlines that stretch across the entire series, cementing the series’ overarching identity even amid constant change. One such throughline is Harry Potter‘s penchant for magical beasts, which is something that Hogwarts Legacy embraces wholeheartedly.

Hogwarts Legacy puts magical beasts at the forefront of much of its side content. From fierce and hostile creatures like the Acromantula, to adorable pets like the Puffskein, to the useful Hippogriff and Thestral mounts, Hogwarts Legacy is home to a vast array of magical beasts. In the likely event that Hogwarts Legacy gets a sequel, it would be great to see even more magical beasts join the roster, and there are a few that fans have wanted to see for a while.

Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy’s Sequels Have to Rekindle The Witcher’s Magic

Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk 2077 miss out on an element of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt that their sequels hopefully invest in fully.

Magical Beasts That Should Come to Hogwarts Legacy 2

More Dragons

Dragons have often played a prominent role in the Harry Potter franchise, and Hogwarts Legacy was no exception. During Poppy Sweeting’s companion quest, players put an end to an underground dragon fighting ring, coming face-to-face with the hulking magical beast on several occasions. Though these encounters are very brief, they’re some of Hogwarts Legacy‘s most thrilling, and it’d be great to get even more run-ins with dragons in the inevitable sequel.

Hogwarts Legacy 2 could feature an early quest that tells players a series of dragon eggs have been stolen from a traveling merchant. Over the course of the sequel, these dragon eggs could hatch one by one, each hatchling being a different breed of dragon from around the world, such as the Hungarian Horntail and Chinese Fireball. These dragons could each pose a unique gameplay challenge, such as one requiring the use of stealth and another requiring a simple duel to defeat.

The Basilisk

When Hogwarts Legacy was first released in 2023, rumors started to pop up claiming that the Basilisk from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets could be seen slinking around Hogwarts Castle’s hallways. These rumors turned out to be false, but a Hogwarts Legacy sequel could finally deliver on the eerie Easter egg.

Demiguise

Referenced in a range of collectible statues in the first Hogwarts Legacy, the Demiguise is a small ape-like creature that can turn itself invisible. The Demiguise can also tell the future, which could have both a narrative and gameplay impact in a potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel. For instance, the Demiguise could function similarly to Ghost of Tsushima‘s Golden Songbird, which leads players to an undiscovered location.

Erkling

The Wizarding World is filled with dangerous creatures, but few are quite as terrifying as the Erkling. A creature from European folklore, the Erkling is an elf-like monster that lures children away from their guardians by singing, laughing, or screeching. Once in their grasp, the Erklings eat the children. The Erklings are a bit darker than the Harry Potter franchise is used to, but it’d be a great way to inject some of the Witcher‘s horror vibes into the next Hogwarts Legacy.

Grindylow

A squid-like water demon that’s native to England, Scotland, and Ireland, the Grindylow would be the perfect enemy type if Hogwarts Legacy 2 was going to let players explore the watery depths surrounding Hogwarts.
