Summary

  • The Thing and the Human Torch will be added to Marvel Rivals on February 21, completing the Fantastic Four lineup.
  • Player ranks will also be reset, with rewards handed out based on performance.

February 21 is going to be a fantastic day for Marvel Rivals players, as The Thing and the Human Torch will officially be added to the game’s roster. Half of The Fantastic Four is already playable in Marvel Rivals, as Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman were introduced on January 10, complete with alternate character skins based on their villainous personas of The Maker and Malice, respectively.

NetEase Games also confirmed that the other two members of Marvel’s First Family would be added to Marvel Rivals in due time, leaving fans to wonder when The Thing and the Human Torch would join the hit multiplayer hero shooter’s roster, and more importantly, what classes and abilities they would have when they did. A previous Marvel Rivals leak suggested that the Human Torch will be a ranged Duelist character specializing in fire-based attacks, with a special team-up move with Storm. Meanwhile, The Thing is rumored to be a tank-like Vanguard character, a fitting class given the hero’s superhuman strength and near-impenetrable rocky skin.

The two new playable characters aren’t the only change coming to Marvel Rivals on February 21, as player ranks will be reset as part of the ongoing Season 1’s second half. These ranks will be locked in at 8 AM UTC (3 AM Eastern Time, 12 AM Pacific), and rewards will be doled out based on player performances. Those who have managed to reach Gold rank or above before the deadline will be rewarded with an alternate Marvel Rivals costume. NetEase has suggested that this will be tweaked over time as more fans share their feedback while playing Marvel Rivals.
