Summary

  • Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 soared to the top ten single-player games on Steam, hitting 256,206 concurrent players.
  • It surpassed popular titles like Dragon’s Dogma 2, cementing its position as a successful single-player game.
  • The game could potentially continue climbing the charts, with single-player games often peaking on the second weekend post-release.

I don’t even think Warhorse Studios could have foreseen the immediate success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. The game launched with an 89 on OpenCritic, scoring a 5/5 from us at TheGamer, and instantly hit 160,000 concurrent users on Steam. Then, over the weekend, it flew past 230,000 players, peaking at 256,206.

While impressive on its own, that number moves the grotty RPG into Steam’s top ten most-played single-player-only games of all time, according to SteamDB.

When taking into account any game that doesn’t feature any multiplayer components, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2’s 256,000 players sees it break into the top ten games on Steam, pushing out 2024’s Dragon’s Dogma 2, which peaked at 228,585 players on the Valve-owned platform.

Black Myth: Wukong smashed all records last year when it was being played by 2.4 million players at the same time. This number made Wukong the most-played single-player game by a margin of 1.4 million, and it became the second most-played game of all time, behind PUBG: Battlegrounds and its peak of almost 3.3 million.

Bethesda is by far the most prolific single-player-only developer, with three games, Fallout 4, Starfield, and, of course, Skyrim, all sitting among the top ten.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 only seems to be building momentum at this point, and single-player games often reach their peak on the second weekend after release, so there is still plenty of time for it to continue to climb the charts.
