  • Avoid glassy characters & focus on specific roles for optimal performance in Smite 2.
  • Bellona, Mordred, Hades, Odin, & Chaac have unique strengths and attributes for varied gameplay.

Smite 2 has numerous Gods for players to choose from, and while these Gods might be usable in many different ways, there are some which handle a specific role better than others. New Gods That Could Be In Smite 2

With Smite 2’s release coming up soon, the developers could consider this gods as new members of the franchise’s roster.

Players will want to avoid more glassy characters that can rely on ability rotations to survive encounters, as these characters are more suited for the Mid Lane. Knowing how Lanes work is an important element of the game.

Updated on February 10th, 2025 by Chad Thesen: Smite 2 is presently in its Beta stages, which means a lot has changed from Alpha. Not only that, characters that are referred to as bottom tier by some standards, can be seen as pretty high by others. This subjectiveness can stem from how easy a character is to play, how versatile they are, but it also matters if the player using them is able to be effective. New gods that have made this list include Aladdin, Ra, and Sobek. While the previous number 2 place of this list now sits at the very bottom. This doesn’t make Odin a bad pick, just not as great as he used to be.

Odin

Complex Tanky Hybrid God

Odin Smite 2 Gods-3
  • Ability Aptitude: Hybrid (Favoring Intelegence)
  • Defense: High
  • Attack Damage: Medium
  • Ability Damage: Medium

Odin is a tanky Hybrid God, similar to Chaac. However, he can be harder to use compared to the other entries on this list, making him a God players will want to try once they have some experience under their belt. This can work against players using Odin, but those that put in the time and effort to learn his kit and how to use it effectively, will have a God that sees a higher consistent win rate. Players will also be able to build Odin into many of the other roles while maintaining his playstyle.

Odin is not for everyone, and players that don’t make the most of his kit will do better with other gods.

Smite 2: How To Get Legacy Gems

Players making the shift from Smite to Smite 2 will be rewarded with Legacy Gems. Here’s how enable the in-game reward.

His ultimate will cause him to create an area of effect that will prevent enemies from healing while lowering their Strength and Intelligence stats. Enemies that leave this area will take damage and become slowed, making them easier to pick off when they try to flee.

7

Mordred

Melee Focused Hybrid God

Mordred Smite 2 Gods-3
  • Ability Aptitude: Hybrid (Favors Strength)
  • Defense: Medium-low
  • Attack Damage: Medium-high
  • Ability Damage: Medium

Mordred is a new God that did not appear in the original Smite, instead being released only in Smite 2. One of the new features of the game is Strength & Intelligence. Some Gods will use only one of these, while others will use both of these stats in a hybrid balance of the two — Mordred is one such God.

He is very melee-oriented and can be built into many aggressive playstyles. His ultimate lets him move through walls, allowing him to defensively escape a bad situation, followed up by a massive amount of damage on an enemy God. In addition to being incredible at the Solo role, Mordred is also a great candidate for the Jungle role — which has its own style of play that differs from those used to playing Lanes.

6

Hades

Tricky Intelligence God

Hades Smite 2 Gods-3
  • Ability Aptitude: Intelligence
  • Defense: Medium-high
  • Attack Damage: Low
  • Ability Damage: High

Hades can be seen as the opposite option to how Bellona sounds. Players will invest heavily into his Intelligence when building Hades, with this being a driving force for his damage-scaling abilities. Hades will not not be engaging enemies right up in their faces at all times, and will perform best while at an arm’s reach of them. Utilizing Blink Rune and Death from Below gives him a spike in survivability while engaging enemy Gods.

Hunting down every trophy/achievement in a game helps to give a sense of accomplishment among the joy of playing the game itself.

Hades ultimate will create a vortex that continuously deals damage to enemies and reduces the cooldown of Hades abilities in the process. He is able to use any other ability once while he channels his ultimate, making for some flexible follow-up choices based on the situation at hand. Hades also has a lot of protection access to make it a lot easier to survive while his abilities are on cooldown. Players running Hades will want to practice his escaping and ability cooldown management in some of the other game modes, such as Arena, before taking Hades into Conquest.

5

Ra

Great at Outlasting Opponents

Smite 2 Best Solo Gods Ra
  • Ability Aptitude: Intelligence
  • Defense: High
  • Attack Damage: Medium
  • Ability Damage: Medium

Ra was an incredibly powerful presence in Solo Lane to the point many would consider him completely overpowered. However, he has seen nerfs that have heavily reined him in, but not enough to completely kick him out of the meta. Building Ra correctly can have Ra outlast his opponents in the Solo lane, with them needing to retreat or face being killed.

Due to his amazing prowess at being a mage, he can also dominate in the Middle Lane. Ra’s passive also gives him some movement that also makes him a great Support partner for the team’s Carry. Players that go all in on mastering how to play Ra means they can fill either of these 2 roles should another player beat them to the Solo role for the match. Being able to still play a character you excel at even when 2 of their usual roles are taken is a big plus.

While buffs and nerfs are a staple of any live service game, they can make players feel differently towards a character. It is best to alway explore many different characters and have many options.

4

Sobek

Game Description

Smite 2 Best Solo Gods Sobek
  • Ability Aptitude: Intelligence
  • Defense: High
  • Attack Damage: Medium
  • Ability Damage: Medium

Sobek is a scary opponent to face off in the solo lane. He can lock down opponents and can close the gap faster than one would like. This makes him an ideal choice for players that really want to bully their opponents out of the lane. Sobek also can cause his targets to become deceased, which will reduce all healing while increasing damage done to them. This can really throw players off their game when he is used as a Support alongside a Carry.

His abilities may make him an aggressive attack, but they also grant flexibility, such as being able to use his rush to escape near death situations. Sobek can also become immune to displacement and being CCed. This makes him a very hard God to go up against when used by a skilled player.

3

Chaac

Easier Tanky Hybrid God

Chaac Smite 2 Gods-3
  • Ability Aptitude: Hybrid
  • Defense: High
  • Attack Damage: Medium
  • Ability Damage: Medium

When it comes to Chaac, players are going to want to favor building into Strength, but dipping into Intelligence can make for a build that performs better than purely Strength. This is because playing the Solo Lane means having a balance of damage output and survivability, with Intelligence being a driving force for the latter. Investing in Intelligence will allow Chaac to last longer to face off against his foes, but investing too much means he will lack the Strength to finish them off before they can do the same.

His ultimate ability will cause him to start channeling, making him immune to crowd control and receiving less damage in the process. He will finish this by dealing a large amount of damage along with silencing enemy gods. Both Mordred and Chaac are some of the best God choices for new players when it comes to tackling the Solo role — with Mordred being the more aggressive of the two. Chaac on the other hand, has everything players need to commit and switch up depending on the situation at hand, and is not as hard as others to pull it all off.

2

Bellona

Aggressive Strength God

Bellona Smite 2 Gods-3
  • Ability Aptitude: Strength
  • Defense: High
  • Attack Damage: Medium-high
  • Ability Damage: Medium

Like Mordred, Bellona is a melee-focused character, but building her into her most effective forms will require a focus on the Strength stat instead of Intelligence. She will be rotating between all manner of different weapons once she engages her foes and is a really fun character for the Solo Lane. Many Gods have means of escaping a tricky situation, but Bellona is ideal for charging straight into the fray and relentlessly pursuing enemies that try to flee.

Her ultimate will help her lead the charge for her allies, as it will cause her to leap forward and give out plenty of buffs within its effective range. She is also immune to crowd control while using this leap. The Solo role is one of the best role choices for beginners, and Bellona is a great option for them to use. This all-or-nothing approach means players have little room for error, and can feel they need to commit to what might be a losing battle at times.

1

Aladdin

One of the Best Gods in the Entire Game

Smite 2 Best Solo Gods Aladdin
  • Ability Aptitude: Hybrid
  • Defense: Medium
  • Attack Damage: High
  • Ability Damage: High

Aladdin is an entirely new God to the Smite franchise. He is one of the most highly praised characters and is seen to push into a tier that outshines all other Gods — other than Hun Batz. He has a focus on melee range, but is highly mobile, allowing him to easily close gaps. In addition to being great in the Solo Lane, he can also make for a great Jungler.

Aladdin’s Passive grants him 3 wishes. Each wish is different and can only be used once per match. However, each of these wishes is incredibly powerful, and can turn the tide of many games. They include gaining gold, reviving with increased movement speed, and instantly resetting all of his cooldowns.
