The Sims 2: Science Career Guide

From a lab tech to a mad scientist, the science career is filled with opportunities to discover!

It’s not the best career around, but it’s great for lazy Sims or those who need a quick income while prioritizing other aspects of their lives. We’ll show you how to get started and quickly rise through the ranks. You may find it’s more enjoyable and lucrative than you think!

Slacker Career Track

Need a job but don’t have a lot of time or energy? The Slacker career offers low hours and decent pay, making it perfect for Sims who would rather be doing anything but work. The variety of skills your Sim needs range from Charisma to Creativity, so you’ll need to spend time enjoying life if you want to succeed.

The Slacker career track is broken up into full-time and part-time work. Below are the available positions and how to get promoted:

  • Adult Slacker Career Track

Working full-time is a hassle for most adult Sims, but in the Slacker career, your shifts are much shorter. There are still ten positions to hold in the track, all of them ranging from a gas station attendant to a professional party guest. Below are all the jobs adults can excel in for slacking:

  • Teen And Elder Slacker Career Track

Slacking isn’t exclusive to adult Sims. Teens and elders can start taking it easy at work. Of course, there are less positions for the short track, but it’s a comfortable income for the amount of energy expended. Using a newspaper or computer, your Sim can search for an opening in the career path. Below are all the jobs teens and elders can excel in for slacking:

Teens must have grades of ‘C’ or higher before they can get a part-time job.

Slacker Career Reward

All those hours put into work aren’t just for simoleons. Once your Sim reaches rank five in this career path, they’ll unlock the Aquagreen Hydroponic Garden. This unique item allows your Sim to increase their Creativity skill while cultivating specialized plants.

These plants take a few days to grow, but once they mature, you can sell them for a small profit. Additionally, you can decorate with them. You can only earn this object once per sim in the career, but if your sim is fired or quits, they can rejoin the career and earn it again.

Male Sims that are sloppy and playful can “water” the plants to relieve their bladder motive.

Child Sims can’t plant the initial seeds due to their height, but they can tend the plants after an adult gets things started. This enables a household to start cultivating skills at a young age–which will only benefit their growth into a fully-functional adult Sim later.
