Competition in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team is intense, with players striving to climb the ranks by securing as many wins as possible while minimizing losses. Every match matters, making strategic play essential. However, the game’s tie match system has allowed players to exit an Ultimate Team match while tied, preventing a loss – regardless of whether the tie occurs early or late.
This loophole could potentially lead to an unfair advantage, as a continued match might have resulted in a win for either side. In response, EA has announced changes to the system. This guide covers everything you need to know about how tied match wins will work under the new rules.

EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team: How to Get XP Fast
Leveling up in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team can be tough. For those struggling, here are some of the easiest ways to earn XP and level up faster.
Can You Win a Tied Match in EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Team?
Following the February 2025 Server Release for EA Sports FC 25, players will be able to get a win if their rival quits a tied match by fulfilling specific conditions that aim to create a fairer and more competitive experience. Here are the updated requirements in EA FC 25 that determine victory in such cases:
- The quitting player uses the Quit option from the in-game Pause Menu.
- 45 or more minutes of the match passed.
- The quitting player concedes a penalty kick.
- The quitting player receives a red card.
Additionally, the game will impose a limit on how many times a player can be awarded a win in a tied match situation. This change introduces a cooldown period, which will be communicated in-game through a notification once the limit is reached. At launch, this limit is set to five wins within a 24-hour period, resetting daily at 00:00 GMT.
This adjustment applies exclusively to Ultimate Team Division Rivals, Champions, and Division Rivals Co-Op. The goal is to prevent players from exploiting certain tactics, ensuring a fairer competitive experience for those striving to climb the ranks.
EA Sports FC 25 Tied Match Wins Changes, Explained
As explained in EA’s Pitch Notes from January 31, the development team aims to “provide a safe and fun environment free from cheating.” However, these changes may be adjusted based on ongoing analysis or if they negatively impact the overall player experience.
Additionally, they stated that their long-term objective is to “eventually address all ways of leaving a tied match,” but first, they need to monitor how players adapt to this update and how it affects Ultimate Team. Since this change may not fully eliminate all frustrations, they will continue evaluating and refining the system to make it as fair as possible.
